Nautilus — Restaurant in Putbus

Travelling by car in Ruegen allowed us to stay in out-of-the-way, less costly Putbus. Hotel Nautilus is also "out of the way", so much so that it's very private and absolutely delightful. Seems many travelers simply come for the quirky restaurant designed like a submarine with artwork resembling "20,000 Leagues under the Sea" as seen on their website. That's well and good, and our meal was very enjoyable, but these folks are missing the best parts of the experience. We made Putbus our home base for further exploration of the island, and this was very conveniently done staying in this hotel. Our immaculate room in the main building was very large by German standards, quite well equipped, attractive, extremely comfortable and favorably priced. Because the hotel offered that rare commodity that we Americans call "screens", we threw open the windows at night after our days of exploration and were lulled by the gentle breezes wafting in off the water. It was nature at its finest without any hardship. I even heard my first cuckoos and they weren't coming from clocks. We weren't enthralled with the busload of overnight tourists who swarmed the dining room like locusts one evening, but we planned around them and they'd departed by the next morning. Although we saw a lot, we'd love to explore Ruegen again and relish another peace-infused weekend. Although we're not the type to repeat experiences when there are so many new places to visit, we'd definitely return to...

Bewertung: Hotel Nautilus, Putbus

Wir haben direkt auf der Webseite des Hotels eine Suite mit 38 m² und Seeblick inklusive Halbpension und Hund gebucht. Bei unserer Anreise wurde uns jedoch mitgeteilt, dass nur eine Suite mit Hofblick verfügbar sei – dies wurde uns als einzige Option angeboten. Sehr enttäuschend.

Halbpension – eher nicht empfehlenswert:

Es gibt nur ein festgelegtes 2-Gänge-Menü.

Die Vorspeise kann man nicht wählen, sie ist täglich vorgegeben.

Beim Hauptgang darf man lediglich zwischen zwei Gerichten auswählen – wie auf einer Butterfahrt ins Fichtelgebirge.

Wem weder Vorspeise noch Hauptgerichte zusagen, der bekommt eben nichts. Eine dort tätige Angestellte mit langen blonden Haaren reagierte auf Nachfragen bez. der eingeschränkten Speisen- als auch Tischauswahl als Hundebesitzer äußerst respektlos und schnippisch und unterbrach mich mehrfach während meiner Fragen. Mit ihren Worten: "Dann streichen wir eben ihre Halbpension und Sie können essen was Sie wollen..." endete dann das Gespräch und wir durften a la carte bestellen und zahlen.

Zudem waren an zwei aufeinanderfolgenden Tagen die Frühstückstische klebrig, als wären sie seit Tagen nicht richtig gereinigt worden.

Reisen mit Hund: Wer mit Hund anreist, muss in einem separaten Nebenraum frühstücken, abseits aller anderen Gäste – und das im Dunkeln, weil laut Rezeption „der Chef das so will“. Erst nachdem wir auf Licht bestanden haben, durften wir sehen, was wir essen.

Positiv: Das Frühstücksbuffet und unser Zimmer waren ansonsten gut, und das U-Boot-Ambiente des Hotels ist interessant.

Negativ: Das Personal wirkt nicht besonders freundlich und reagiert auf Nachfragen eher genervt. Die Gebäude könnten außerdem einen neuen Anstrich vertragen – alles wirkt etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

Wir haben, wie beschrieben, die Halbpension schließlich storniert und sind auf Rügen in andere Restaurants essen gegangen, wo wir ohne Ärger mit deren Personal und ohne Diskussionen frei unser Essen wählen konnten.

Fazit: Einen Aufenthalt würden wir hier aufgrund der schlechten Erfahrung mit der dort angestellten blonden Dame, der Abschiebung mit Hund in einen Nebenraum und der fehlerhaften Zimmerzuweisung nicht noch...
