EINKEHR am Gleis Restaurant — Restaurant in Radolfzell am Bodensee

This is a relatively new and modern hotel in Markelfingen on the Bodensee (Lake Constance). Since we were visiting family here, the location was perfect. Our room was a bit tight for the three of us, but the bathroom was large with both a shower and soaking tub! We were on the top, or 3rd floor, so the lift was a definite plus. There is a bar/restaurant, but it is operated independently from the hotel, and we found the prices for breakfast a bit high. It would be nice if somehow the hotel could provide its guests with perhaps a discount coupon of some sort for breakfast? But this does not detract from the cleanliness and nice amenities offered by the friendly staff. This area is popular with cyclists, and I believe the hotel offers secure storage areas for bikes, although I'm not sure of the charge, if any, for this amenity. We did have a car, so the free parking was much appreciated. The location is a short drive to area attractions such as Birkau, Meersburg, Constanz and the beautiful island of Mainau. Beim Betreten des Restaurants gibt es am Eingang bereits eine herzliche Begrüßung seitens des Inhabers und Restaurantleiters, Herrn Repnik, - verbunden mit aufmerksamem „Garderoben-Service“ und freundlicher Begleitung an den Tisch ! - Das Ambiente entspricht (Gott sei es gedankt) weniger der (regional üblichen) „Landgasthof-Atmosphäre mit Kachelofen-Charme“ sondern eher einem modernen, großstädtischen „In-Bistro“, - angenehm wohltuend für’s Auge bei ansonsten in der ländlichen Gastro-Szene rund um den Bodensee leider häufigem „Plüsch und Mief“ der 60-er und 70-er Jahre !!! - Der Service hier ist fix, freundlich, flexibel und zudem immer sehr „locker“, - soll heißen: … gut aufgelegt und ungezwungen ! – Die diversen Gerichte auf der Speisekarte heben sich wohltuend vom (alltäglichen) „Spätzle-, Schäufele- und Sößle-Einerlei“ ab, - lesen sich zudem nicht nur interessant und schmecken sehr raffiniert, sondern werden auch optisch ansprechend präsentiert und in durchaus großzügig bemessener Portionsgröße serviert. - Somit gibt es auch in dieser Disziplin keinerlei Anlass zu Kritik, - ein dickes Lob hierfür an den im Hintergrund agierenden, ambitionierten Küchenchef, Herrn Dierich. - Und ganz zum Schluss sei noch zu erwähnen, dass das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis als durchaus angemessen und gerechtfertigt bezeichnet werden kann, - jede Vorspeise, jedes Hauptgericht und jede Nachspeise sind ihr Geld wert, wenn man es denn nur im Einzelnen bemisst an der Qualität der Ware wie auch an dem Aufwand der (geschulten) Zubereitung ! - Ganz beiläufig angesprochen sei auch gleich noch die „Weinkarte“, welche sich im Wesentlichen orientiert an regionalen Gewächsen und bei welcher garantiert ein Jeder fündig werden dürfte !!? – Das Fazit der „Laudatio“: Die „Einkehr am Gleis“ ist ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen und zum Wiederkommen ! – Das sehen offenbar auch andere Gäste so, weshalb das Restaurant häufig „stark frequentiert“ wird und eine telefonische Vorabreservierung dringend...
