Landhaus Halferschenke — Restaurant in Rhein-Mosel

This place was a pleasant surprise for me and my wife. We booked the hotel just for sleeping, as we were leaving early the next day.

When we entered the accommodation through the restaurant’s dining room, I immediately realized it was a special place. The dining room was incredibly well-prepared and organized. The room we stayed in was spacious, with windows offering a view of the street.

We were asked if we would like to reserve a table at the restaurant for dinner, and we accepted. We had one of the best dining experiences we've had to date. The service was flawless from start to finish. The staff is young but very well-trained. I noticed that the person in charge of the dining room was also the owner of the establishment, and the chef was her husband. It’s evident that they are hardworking people who truly love their business.

The food was simply outstanding. Prepared with great technique and skill by someone with a lot of knowledge. It’s no surprise that this restaurant is listed in the Michelin guide as a recommendation.

The wine list is quite extensive and caters to all tastes and price ranges. Excellent local wines.

The breakfast was nothing short of special. Excellent quality cheeses, delicious breads, a selection of top-tier charcuterie, and a delicious yogurt and granola.

If I could sum up this place in one word, it would...

The rooms are nice, big and neat, but a bit noisy at the roadside (when you want to sleep a little longer). Staff is young and friendly, and the service is good. The owners dog is laid back and slept almost all through our stay. The menu isn’t cheap but the quality is good. Ingredients are fresh. The gnocchi was a bit too salty though. Breakfast at the terrace was very nice but if you’re not a meat eater tell it up front: there’s a large variety of meat (and cheeses). The owners seem like hard workers with passion for their place. All in all a nice stop on your way...

Vorweg: Ein exzellenter, sehr aufmerksamer Service. Die Mädels wissen wirklich, was sie tun. Die Vorspeise war sehr gut (wir hatten einen Salat und ein Rinder-Carpaccio). Leider war der Hauptgang sehr durchwachsen. Im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Wenn ich ein Rinderfilet bestelle, erwarte ich ein super zartes Stück Fleisch, welches praktisch auf der Zunge zerschmilzt. Das war leider gar nicht der Fall. 1/3 des Filets war so durchwachsen, dass ich teils große Mühe hatte es überhaupt zu kauen und kurz überlegte, es in meine Serviette auszuspucken.

Vielleicht sollte man sich hier nach einem besseren Fleisch-Lieferanten umsehen und eher an der Portionsgröße sparen als an der Qualität des Fleisches. Wir wollten eigentlich ein 3-Gänge Menü zu uns nehmen, aber nach diesem wirklich großen Hauptgang (und ich esse eigentlich recht gut und viel) war das nicht mehr möglich. Von der schieren Menge des Kartoffelpürees wurde man erschlagen und auch das Fleisch hatte schätzungsweise um die 220-250g Das erinnerte mich eher an ein Essen bei Oma als in einem gehobenen Restaurant. ;) Auf einigen der hier hochgeladenen Bilder sieht man kleinere Mengen, die dort abgebildeten Portionen würde ich auch empfehlen beizubehalten.

Ansonsten hatten wir einen tollen Abend in super schöner Atmosphäre. Hätte der Hauptgang noch gestimmt, gäbe es hier 5 von 5 Sternen. So leider...
