Gasthof Linden & Wildkräuterhotel — Restaurant in Rothenburg ob der Tauber (VGem)

I am sharing my experience with my stay with Gasthof Linden & Wildkräuterhotel on 25 Dec - 26 Dec 2021. The stay was pleasant, however the integrity of the hotel owner and staff has left me deeply disappointed. I have paid for the hotel stay via the Booking.com platform using my Credit Card, however hotel Gasthof Linden & Wildkräuterhotel demanded another payment for the hotel during our checkout, noticing that the initial payment might be unsuccessful, we paid for the hotel during our checkout. It is only upon receiving my Credit Statement, that I found out that was billed twice. Subsequently, I reached out to the Gasthof Linden & Wildkräuterhotel on booking.com, it took a while to sort this out, on 22 Jan 2022, the staff finally got back to me that there is indeed a double payment made for the hotel stay (attached picture for reference), however since exchanging a few messages we have not heard from Gasthof Linden & Wildkräuterhotel and till date after providing my bank details, I have not received any refund for the double payment. I hope this will help and serve as a service announcement for anyone keen to stay with Gasthof Linden & Wildkräuterhotel. DO NOT TRUST THE STAFF OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT.

Five stars - because I loved this hotel. It will not suit everyone, however, as it is in the small village of Linden (part of Windelsbach, apparently), a very quiet setting. It took only about a 30 minute walk one evening to explore almost the entire village, which gives some idea of the size of the village. ||This hotel is only convenient if you have a car; in that case, it is excellent for visiting Rothenburg, as the parking lots that surround Rothenburg are only 10 minutes away. ||This is a very German hotel - nothing like a chain hotel. The room was quite large with a large bathroom, lots of storage, and a nice view over the park beside the hotel. There is a parking lot for the hotel of reasonable size, but when the hotel is full, that parking lot may also be full (as it was when we were there). In that case there is street parking available on the north side of the hotel. ||The nearby associated restaurant is very good for supper. As others have mentioned, you check in for the hotel at the restaurant, receive your key, and then drive over to the hotel.||However, the breakfast is served in the actual hotel building. Es war ein sehr netter Empfang und ich habe meinen Zimmerschlüssel gleich bekommen. Auch ein paar offene Fragen meinerseits zu der Buchung konnten sehr schnell beantwortet werden. Tagsüber besteht die Möglichkeit, den Schlüssel in der Gaststätte abzugeben, wenn man ihn nicht bei Ausflügen mitnehmen möchte. Das habe ich auch genutzt, da auf meinem Anhänger vom Schlüssel leider die komplette Adresse draufstand. Das war mir dann zu unsicher, falls ich den Schlüssel mal verlieren sollte. Das Gästehaus befindet sich nur wenige, hundert Meter weiter von der Gaststätte. Den Schlüssel holt man bei der Gastwirtschaft mit Restaurant und Biergarten ab. Mein Zimmer war im Erdgeschoss, in der Nähe vom Frühstücksbereich. Ich hatte Bedenken wegen den morgendlichen Geräuschen, aber die Zwischentür zu den Zimmern dämpft die Lautstärke vollständig. Auch der Betreiber hat mich beim Checkin auf die Zwischentür hingewiesen. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und mit allem Nötigen ausgestattet. Meine Matratze war mir allerdings definitiv zu hart. Aber für ein paar Tage ging es schon und jeder hat, was die Matratzen angeht, ja auch ein unterschiedliches Empfinden. Das Frühstück war sehr gut. Ich wurde nach Kaffee oder Tee gefragt. Auch Rührei oder Spiegelei konnte man bestellen, was frisch zubereitet wurde. Beim Frühstück mangelte es an nichts. Man hat auch die Möglichkeit, draussen auf der Terasse oder direkt im Garten zu sitzen, was bei dem warmen Wetter echt schön war. Die Begrüßung morgens war recht herzlich und kam ehrlich rüber. Es lag nie viel in der Auslage, wurde aber bei Bedarf schnell aufgefüllt. Die Auswahl war sehr gut und wechselte auch. Im Kellerbereich vom Gästehaus befand sich ein Kühlschrank, bei dem man sich, bei Bedarf, kalte Getränke für 1 Euro rausnehmen konnte. Die Bezahlung lief auf Vertrauensbasis und dann problemlos morgens beim Frühstück. Ich habe einfach die leeren Flaschen mit zum Frühstück genommen und dann direkt dort bezahlt. Einen Tag habe ich auch in der Gastwirtschaft mit Biergarten gegessen. Allerdings sollte man da schon dem Wirt beim Einchecken vertrauen und ggf Plätze vorab reservieren. Ich hatte allerdings Glück und noch ein Plätzchen im Biergarten bekommen. Das Essen war super lecker und kam schnell. Es gab eine gute Auswahl, da findet bestimmt jeder was. Fazit: Es war ein sehr schöner Kurzurlaub in einem netten Ambiente. Das Hotel / Gästehaus liegt nur ein paar Kilometer von Rothenburg ob der Tauber entfernt und ist eine super Alternative zu den Hotels in der Stadt. Die Adresse auf den Zimmeranhängern sollte man meiner Meinung nach weglassen, das macht es etwas sicherer, falls mal ein Schlüssel verloren geht. Bei den Matratzen wären auch bestimmt mittelfeste ausreichend, aber das empfindet ja jeder anders. Essen im Lokal und das Frühstücksbuffet sind absolut zu empfehlen. Im Ganzen ein sehr schönes Hotel mit schönen Ambiente und sehr netten Personal. Ich kann es nur weiterempfehlen. Es werden auch Wander- oder Radtourentipps sehr gerne...
