To truly experience the culture and hospitality of this region of Germany, getting off the beaten track and finding an Inn such as this with superior restaurant and the most fantastic beer on the planet is not to be missed... actually there is an informal network of inns like this worth exploring wherever you go... ||||The beer: fresh, made with the water fresh from the spring, in a town of only 300 people, made from the best of ingredients, Felsentrunk was my favorite... ||||The food: If you love German food, with a fresh and seasonal twist, you must go during white asparagus season. They fashion an entire menu around this locally grown seasonal specialty. ||||The rooms: not it's strong point, only 9 rooms, but comfortable, quiet, very relaxed environment in a small town with no traffic... but if you can not survive without CNN or a direct dial phone, you are warned... the baths are dated, and could be updated... bring your own supply of shampoo and soap as well a hair dryer if you need one... ||||Lastely, get some German language skills, as only Amrose the owner and his daughter Christine speak decent English, the rest of the staff do not... ||||A 20 minute ride from Bamberg, well worth the drive if just for the excellent restaurant and the fantastic beer......

Read moreWOW! The food here was excellent and the service incredible! We had the Sudpfanne schnitzel and sauerbraten and it was absolutely delicious. Generous portions and so so so well made! Our hardworking waitress had the food out in moments and the gorgeous outdoor seating gave the perfect ambiance. If that's not your speed, the indoor area was wooden and homey, the perfect surroundings for a hearty German meal.||||The beer taster is a must when you're there! The beer is great and the "rauchbier" or smoked beer is one of the best I've had. We got a six pack to bring home with us in order to enjoy it again. ||||I fully recommend taking a little detour to visit this perfect gem in...
