Mesnerwirt St. Johann — Restaurant in Siegsdorf

Went here because of all the great reviews and it was only a few minutes from our accommodation.

I enjoyed the history of the place, and the location. I noticed there was a lot of locals here, which is always a good sign.

It was great to try some traditional food, and I like that they use a lot of local ingredients. As a non-European, the food is a little heavy for me but that's nothing against the food. It was tasty.

I got the Bratkartoffeln, and my boyfriend the Schnitzel. We then finished with the Kaiserschmarrn. The portions were large and the price very reasonable. Everything including two beers was 37€. Worth noting that they only accept cash.

The staff were nice and service was fast. I recommend this place if you are in the area and want to taste some good, honest and traditional Bavarian food.

Mehr oder weniger zufällig sind wir auf der Suche nach einer Mittagsmahlzeit über den Mesnerwirt St.Johann gestolpert. Nach einer sehr freundlichen Begrüßung haben wir aus der übersichtlichen Karte verschiedene Gerichte bestellt und wurden zu 100 % zufriedengestellt. Ob der Kaiserschmarrn, die Schnitzel mit handgemachte Bratkartoffeln, der Kesselgulasch oder ein frischer Salat mit Dressing. Es blieben keine Wünsche offen! Nochmal ein GROßES Kompliment an die Küche und das ganze Team. Abgerundet wurde das ganze durch kühle Getränke, einen unglaublichen Ausblick, einem netten Plausch mit dem Gastwirt und einem sehr gutes Preis- Leistungverhältnis. Achtung: Man kann nicht mit Karte zahlen!!!! Ein kleiner Tipp, nebenan kann man die kleine Kirche St.Johann besichtigen und den Ausblick genießen. Um den abgelegenen Ort zu finden. Wenn Sie die A8 von Österreich kommend Richtung München befahren, müssen Sie die Autobahn an der Abfahrt 113 /Neukirchen verlassen und fahren auf der Siegsdorfer Straße in Richtung Siegsdorf. Wenn Sie von München Richtung Österreich unterwegs sind, verlassen Sie die Autobahn an der Abfahrt 112 Traunstein/Siegsdorf und fahren auf der B 308 Richtung Inzell. Sie müssen B 308 nach kurzer Zeit linkerhand verlassen und auf die unscheinbare Neukirchener Straße abbiegen. Dieser klitzekleine Umweg lohnt sich wirklich. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Wow, the food is really yummy and the portions are rather big. For once they did not serve french fries but fried potatoes instead. The Kaiserschmarn is tasty not too sweet to begin with and the portion is huge, enough for two to three. The location is quiet and tranquil and the service very friendly.
