McDonald's — Restaurant in Stralsund

We feel quite cheated with the Euro 40 parking fine we received for being paying breakfast guests at that location (Greifswalder Chaussee 123, 18439 Stralsund) on September 3, 2025. Food & Service were OK. The free Wifi (WLan) offered for 3 hours, allowed us to plan the rest of our trip. It also made us think staying 3 hours is OK. But upon returning from our trip we received a nasty-gram from Parkdepot, Munich advising us that we overstayed the allowed 1.5 hours parking and owe a Euro 40 fine. Attempts to contact that particular McDonalds for comment failed. They did not answer the phone. Parkdepot states that they operate with permission of the operator (McDonalds) and that the maximum Parking time of 90 minutes and the legalese of pending fines is posted multiple times on the property. Well, we parked at 6:53 AM one space away from the restaurants entry door and sure did not notice any such sign anywhere there, nor at the door when entering at 7AM (opening time) and seriously, who looks for such a sign while driving into a restaurant’s parking lot? Nor did any of the employees mention anything and neither did the receipt or the ordering terminal. As already mentioned the Wifi was offered free for 3 hours, which lead us to the fateful mis-assumption we’d be welcome for that amount of time. Cleary, we were not. Shame on you McDonalds! An unforgettable visit. The staff completely forgot about our order, and we were really hungry. After waiting 25 minutes, we discovered they hadn’t even started preparing it. At McDonald’s, you’d think that would be impossible. After we brought it to their attention, the manager stepped in to handle our order personally. The food arrived very quickly, but with mixed results: out of four portions of fries, one was hot, and three were cold. The burgers, at least, were hot. As an apology, they gave us a coupon for a free single hamburger—but the real kicker was that the handwritten expiration date had passed two years ago (valid until 31.10.22). I arrived to the restaurant arround 00:30. An employee was cleaning the floor. Without cleaning or desinfecting his hands, he started serving food to customers. I tried to tell this issue to his collegue but he ignored, telling me this is a normal fact. A young lady came, suppose she was a manager, and she told me that“s McDonald‘s procedure … For 10 minutes she tried to convince me that this is the procedure, not to clean the hands between cleaning the floor and serving food to people because the food is wrapped in paper or in a box.
