The Sansibar isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a Sylt institution and my personal pilgrimage spot every time I visit the island. Whether for lunch, sunset drinks, or a long dinner, the experience is always unforgettable.
Why It’s Special: ✔ Iconic Location – Right by the water with unbeatable views, especially at golden hour. The mix of rustic charm and relaxed luxury is pure Sylt magic. ✔ Perfect "Sylt Vibe" – That effortless blend of elegance and barefoot ease, where you’ll spot both locals and celebrities just enjoying life. ✔ Menu Highlights – The fish dishes are insanely fresh (their tuna steak is legendary), and even simple things like fries with Sylt salt or their oysters feel like an event. ✔ Sunset Drinks – Their cocktail list is short but excellent—order a "Sansibar Gin Tonic" and watch the sky turn pink over the Wadden Sea.
Pro Tips: Reservations are a must (book weeks ahead in summer).
Go for late lunch if you want a quieter vibe.
Even if you don’t dine, stop by for a glass of wine at the bar—just soaking up the atmosphere is worth it.
Bottom Line: No trip to Sylt feels complete without a stop here. It’s not cheap, but it’s 100% worth it for the memories. Already planning my...

Read moreI would simply guess there are not many places essentially everyone has already heard of when it comes to Sylt, but the "Sansibar" is one of them. It still is a kind of "cult" and goes far beyond eating and drinking. You can meanwhile have all kinds of merchandise with the iconic logo of the two crossed pirate swords ⚔. It's quite posh and this can sometimes be a little annoying but still a very beautiful spot directly located in close proximity to the beach. The food is delicious and fresh but the place is usually totally overgrowded, so you better be prepared to stay with a drink outside and enjoy the view and the spirit. I love the strawberry punch which consists of strawberry wine, prosecco and presh strawberries and is superb delicious and refreshing. It's 9,-€ a glass but that's Sansibar where you are and you better get used to it 😜. Little advice, the parking lot is usually also crowded and will cost you. If you just pass it than a 100m further ahead is a public parking lot for free and usually with more free space. It's just you have to walk a bit and this is for some people obviously a...
