When I did booking for one night at the beginning of May 2014. I added that we will arrive after 18 o’clock. Big was our surprise when we arrived to hotel at 22:30 and it was completely closed. No movement or any light at all. We ring all 3 bells several times, nock the window. I phone to hotel telephone number.||We also ask help from one person who passed in the street. He looks over our booking and was very surprised why hotel is closed. ||We spent a night in another hotel but next morning we went to see the hotel Am Schloss as we stayed to see the Rastatt. Hotel was closed but this time one lady come to open the door. We asked her what happen with our booking because it was so unbelievable surprise. Attitude and answer of the lady was even more shocking. First thing she said was that she was waiting us until 23 o’clock and then she went to upstairs. I did not understood if she lives in the same house. She said that I should have called her in advance to inform that I am coming later. This day was her free day, only day in a week and she emphasize that she has right to have one free day in a week. I tried to explain that we have not receive any communication that hotel will be closed after some certain time before 23 hours and that we arrived even before, 22.30. She did not let us talk at all and only tired to blame me and excuse herself. We really did not want to argue who is right. Even if she would have to right to have one free day in a week I believe this inadmissible attitude of any hotel owner or employee. Our discussion with this lady was offensive for all of us. Looks like in hotel Am Schloss “the king” is not the client but the employee or owner. It is so unbelievable for the strategically located hotel and in Germany were people are very punctual. I would not recommend this hotel to any client. All things could be perfect but the attitude ruins everything. I travel in general 5-10 times a year and staying in different level hotels but never met this kind of attitude. But I never had this kind of...

Read moreThis hotel has an excellent location between the baroque castle and the centre of town. It also has a few car parking places at the back.||In the evening if the weather is fine, meals and drinks are served outside on a road which is now a dead end, otherwise there is a large indoor dining-room. A separate area is used for the buffet breakfasts.||The dining area is used by locals for evening drinks and the menu has a good choice of good value food. As we were there in asparagus season, there was a special asparagus menu supplement.||We found the staff very friendly and helpful, the locals welcoming and would return if in...
