⭐ 1/5 | Disappointing, Overpriced, and Unfriendly — Not Recommended
We recently stayed at Camping Kleinenzhof with our camper van and two small children (ages 3 & 1), and while the location itself is undeniably beautiful, our overall experience was extremely disappointing due to poor service, chaotic management, and hidden costs.
Arrival & Check-In: Upon check-in, we were handed a vague map and told to choose from 3–4 pitches — with no guidance or escort to help us locate them. The pitches were not clearly marked, many had no visible numbers, and the internal roads were poorly maintained. We spent over 25 minutes trying to navigate the area on foot with two toddlers. When we returned to the reception to ask for help, they sent an elderly man in a buggy who refused to speak English and said he would only assist someone who speaks German — despite this campsite being advertised as English-friendly. Thankfully, a German-speaking friend helped us pick a spot.
Hidden Electricity Charges: We were shocked to find out that electricity is not included in the already high pitch price (we paid €143 for just two nights). There was no clear communication about this during booking. Upon checkout, we were charged an additional €27 for electricity, with no proof of how this amount was calculated. When we politely asked for details, the owner arrogantly said, “bring me a picture of the meter” — despite there being no meter at our pitch. It felt exploitative and dishonest.
Facilities & Safety: The children’s playground next to the restaurant has serious safety issues. There’s a high playhouse structure with no protective barriers — we had to constantly monitor our 3-year-old as a fall could have been dangerous. The restaurant is overpriced with very poor quality food — prices comparable to Switzerland, but service and quality were far below expectations. My husband is a professional chef and was truly shocked by the experience.
Staff & Atmosphere: The staff, including the owner, were unfriendly, unhelpful, and dismissive. The general attitude was that tourists should just accept whatever is offered, regardless of value or service.

We have camped extensively in Switzerland, France, and Italy — and never encountered such chaotic service, lack of transparency, or overpriced extras. Sadly, what could have been a lovely weekend turned into a frustrating and unpleasant stay.
⚠️ Be cautious before booking here. What looks like a peaceful, family-friendly site hides serious issues in management, pricing, and...
Read moreMyself and my partner have just come back from a three night stay here. We weren't expecting much but it ended up being one of the best holidays We have ever had thanks to the amazing staff and amenities here! Upon arrival we were welcomed in by friendly staff who helped us and answered all questions we had. They let us pitch our Tensile tent (hammock tent pitched up to three trees) out of the way and in a lovely spot in the forest just across from the footbridge over the lovely river. ||Starting with the food in the restaurant, ten out of ten absolutely amazing. Traditional German grub everything made from scratch completely fresh. Tasted absolutely incredible and the service was brilliant! Highly recommend the homemade cheesecake!||The facilities were by far some of the cleanest ones I have seen and I have been to four star hotels which have been in worse conditions. All of the shower cubicles were clean as a whistle and same goes for the toilet cubicles. Spotless! Also great showers, better than our one at home! ||The location was excellent, plenty of walk and cycle routes (bikes which you can rent from the campsite for just 6 euros for half a day! - highly recommend!) couple of villages a few kilometres walk away which are very nice. Bad wildbad is a gorgeous one to visit!||Indoor and outdoor pool was excellent, very clean and a perfect pool for a swim in the sun, plenty of sun lounges to chill on too! Very peaceful. ||Finally, the staff are what made our time in the campsite so special. They made us feel like we were the only ones there and treated us like royalty. They opened the minimarkt on site especially for us when we needed equipment/water etc and on one day they gave us blankets from their personal homes to keep us warm and cosy in our tent when we informed them we were cold one night. They seemed to go out of their way to make sure we were happy, couldn't of been happier with our experience at this campsite! Peaceful, friendly atmosphere in a beautiful Black Forest location, absolutely perfect! Recommend to anybody wanting a few days camping trip to the Black Forest!! ||Thank you for everything you done for us...
