The place is so peaceful and beautiful! There's more than a restaurant here - there are also gift shops to get souvenirs and a beautiful little stream with water wheels spinning. The food is really good! We especially recommend the beef stake with caramelized onions with Spaetzle. The Black Forest cake is absolutely perfect! Not too sweet, light and refreshing, with it's cold layer of preserved cherries and 3 layers of sponge cake soaked in some sort of alcohol, rum maybe. The only thing that matters is that it's simply delicious! The waiter gave us great recommendations and was super nice, even helped us decide what to order for our baby. It's a wonderful restaurant, very authentic and the drive to it is magical and gives you great views of the Black Forest.

The scene is nice but the restaurant is totaly overrated. They didn't have any chicken or fish left. One of us is vegetarian so we ordered noodles in cream souce. The cream souce was mixed with some meat gravy. The waitress didn"t want to take it back. We Ordered two kind of beef steaks. All were too salty and swimming in the gravy. Paid too much for what we got. If you go there, have a drink or a dessert. Don't bother for the food.

The Hexenlochmühle, or "Witch's Hole Mill," is the only wood mill with two water wheels in the Black Forest. It was built in 1825 and one of the wheels operated a forge and the other wheel operated a saw. The same family has owned the mill since 1839. Today the mill is just a major tourist attraction of the Black Forest and has a restaurant, souvenir shop and a delightful shop of typical products of the Black Forest.
