Booked into this hotel for 1 night whilst attending a concert in Schopfheim. It is a good 15 mins walk from the town, along a main road, so nothing attractive.||The hotel itself looks quaint and is also a restaurant. However the restaurant does seem to take priority over the hotel.||||On arrival you have come into the restaurant to check in, we were greeted by a very rude/aggressive waitress who because we couldn't speak German, tutted and called another waitress over to check us in who could speak English.||||Check in was minimal. We were told no info and just given a key and pointed in the direction of the room.||||The room was very clean. We booked the deluxe, as reading the reviews standard rooms are tiny! ||||The issue I had with the room was though it was large, clean and a lovely bathroom, there was no air con. It was roasting hot, but the room is on the ground floor and the windows opened onto a walkway going around the hotel with people passing all the time. The room also had no safe, so security wise I was not happy.||||Later that evening we left for the concert and asked for a taxi to be called, which the staff did straight away. We also ordered 2 glasses of wine from the bar whilst waiting. I wasn't charged so I presumed the drinks were added to our bill.||||Whilst getting into the taxi, the original rude waitress ran out of the hotel to stop us from getting in because we hadn't paid for our drinks. Highly embarrassing in front of the taxi driver. I off course went back in and tried to explain I thought it was added to the bill. Anyway I paid the 8 euros (not bad for 2 wines).||||On arriving back at the hotel around midnight, they had some function on until 2 am, which was extremely noisy, especially when everyone left via the walkway outside our windows.||||The next morning we checked out, and again minimal contact. We were charged 20 Euros for breakfast that we didn't have. Apparently breakfast is charged whether you have it or not.||||All in all, I have never experienced such shocking customer service in any hotel. We were treated like we were an effort for the staff. The restaurant certainly takes all their attention and the hotel just seems to be an annoying side line for them. ||||Schopfheim is a lovely town, and the service was excellent in every other...

Read moreHad a very nice overnight stay here en route from Calais to the Italian lakes. ||Dinner was delicious, local specialities and well kept draught beers. Theres also a wonderful courtyard at the back where you can sit outside. Just what you hope for and expect from a well run hotel in the Black Forest. Breakfast was well presented and very tasty. The hotel try and cater for every requirement, including our children's request for hot chocolate at breakfast!||Room was spacious and well presented. Only criticisms (and there are only two tiny ones) is that there was no fan or air con in the room. Southern Germany can be a hot place in Summer so a ceiling fan would have helped us sleep better. The other was the badly translated menus. Being English meant we were too polite to ask for a German menu and make our own choices, instead trying to work out what the menu was trying to say. Should have offered to translate it for them!||I feel bad not giving them 5 stars but please do not hesitate to stay here, its truly delightful and you will have a great stay here. We look forward to...
