Hotel-Gasthof Ochsen — Restaurant in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Wutöschingen

The owners were kind and welcoming, however we experienced several significant glitches during our stay. First, upon arrival at 16:00, the hotel was closed, no one answered any of the phone numbers and we were left outside with two toddler after a long and hot day of cycling. While it may be slightly early than expected, I would at least expect someone to answer calls so we’d know what to expect. Second, we have requested for a cot for our 2 year old upon booking, and although the request was confirmed the cot was eventually not available during our stay (double booked). We got another extra bed instead but it wasn’t suitable for this age. Third, we scheduled breakfast for 08:00, according to the hotel availability, and found ourselves waiting in front of the locked restaurant, unknowing when we’ll be able to eat, until 08:45, with guests from 3 other rooms which also scheduled breakfast for 08:00. Rooms are pleasantly decorated, and the restaurant food is good and simple. We were disappointed by the hygiene of the beds (see photo of stain on bedsheets) and cold room.

It is untrue that the hotel is wheelchair friendly and it is unsuitable for disabled persons.

My Husband and I stayed here for one night on our way to see Rhine Falls. We are Australian and only speak a few German words. Our host was lovely despite not knowing much English. The room was small but comfortable. We ate our evening meal in the pub: cheesy spaetzle pasta with mushroom cream sauce and salad. The breakfast was a lovely variety of cold foods (cheese slices, tomato, bread rolls, butter, honey, jam, yogurts, orange juice) with the option of hot drinks.
