Café am Eck — Restaurant in Verwaltungsverband Oberes Renchtal

A very nice place in the middle of town, and after ordering I sat outside with a view of the church. My German is poor but the staff understood and spoke English, and I was easily able to order a large slice of Black Forest cake and a coca-cola. There were lots of other nice looking cakes and pastries also. The road adjacent is quite busy, and there are a lot of motorbikes and HGVs going through, so it wasn’t too peaceful while I was eating, but the cake was exceptional and I was given an ashtray as smoking was permitted in the outside dining area. For the size of my slice of cake and a large soft drink I think the price was good, just over 8 euros. The staff were welcoming, friendly...

Wir wollten ein schnelles Mittagessen auf der Durchreise. Leider konnte die Bedienung direkt an der Theke kaum sagen, was es zu Essen gibt und man hatte direkt von der Gestik her nicht den Eindruck Willkommen zu sein. Am Platz haben wir dann die Speisekarte angeschaut und festgestellt, dass es eigentlich viel mehr gibt. Auf Rückfrage wurde uns dann auch mitgeteilt, dass es nur 3 der bestimmt 20-30 Gerichte gibt (normale Mittagszeit ca. 12:30). Unser bestellter Wurstsalat wurde dann völlig wort- und lustlos irgendwie abgestellt. Von Service kann man hier ehrlich gesagt kaum reden. Der Wurstsalat hat auch nicht wirklich geschmeckt. Komplett fade mit fast nur Wasser angemacht und quasi ohne Zutaten außer der Wurst. Dazu gabs völlig zähe Brötchen. Und schlussendlich mussten wir nach 20 min warten selbst zur Kasse zum Bezahlen (trotz Bescheid geben). Auch hier keinerlei Rückfrage, ob alles okay war oder ähnliches. Einfach kein Service. Das einzig positive für uns war eigentlich die schöne Lage und das angenehme Ambiente, das wohl vom Vorbesitzer war. Ein eigentlich nettes Café, aus dem man viel machen könnte, jedoch leider das schlechtest mögliche...

What a delightfull Cafe. Excellent location, on a crossroad deep in the Schwarzwald, where several motortours come together. Lots of parking space just opposite from the large terrace. Very friendly staff, they even packed a few bread rolls for us to take along. Excellent SchwarzwalderKirch torte! Good coffee too ! I recommend this stop to all my motorcycle...
