Restaurant Hubland — Restaurant in Würzburg

I went to this restaurant because it was highly recommended from someone I know.

I can say, the appetizers were incredible. The wine leaves, the hummus and olive dips, as well as the eggplant dip. The peta was also good.

However, I ordered the number 75, the Athens mixed plate, and I was sorely disappointed with the meat. It was all overcooked, especially the lamb and the turkey gyros. The meat was very dry. The beef Souvlaki was fine. I thought I was being too picky as the last time I had Greek food was in Greece, however my fellow guests at the table who had meat also said it was very dry. I followed up with the person who recommended the place, because they moved away from the area, they haven’t been there in years. Maybe it has changed.

As for the service, it was okay, but I felt like it could have been better and friendly. The Greek people are famous for their guest friendliness, so I might judge a Greek restaurant on this more than many other kinds of restaurants.

I was also surprised that we didn’t get glasses of water automatically. In actual Greek restaurants, you always do. Perhaps because this might be a Germanized Greek restaurant instead of a legit Greek one?

I was impressed with their large menu, and they also had some unusual dishes and drinks, which I find intriguing. I was pleasantly surprised they had espresso martinis. That was lovely.

The atmosphere was pretty good. It can be pretty loud, at least as I was there.

I would love to see slightly better service and much higher quality meat dishes. I can totally understand why this place might have had such a high rating before, based on what I have heard. But, in my option, I don’t think that is true anymore. I would say this place should be maximum a 3.9 as an average. I must give them a 3. My Greek friends would be disappointed if I did otherwise....

I just had the most awful service experience were I got DISCRIMINATED because of a medical condition. I have sun allergy and I cannot be not even where sun reflects otherwise I get blisters. We got a place in the "shadow" but still the sun was on my face. We asked to have a place inside due my condition, the waiter told me I was in the shadow and of I wanted to move I could take my stuff, the menu, and cutlery inside and IF they have time, someone would come. We moved thinking that we would have other person and we could just ignore the situation... No one came after waiting for a long time, we asked to file a formal complain (honestly I was filling Heartbroken already as I felt this as a punishment for my condition?), Well the person on charge said he had no time for complains and we could leave, that he was not interested in hearing more... We were calm all the time and he even started to raise his voice... I just hope they (nor anyone that might have a special need) never have to be in a situation like the one...

Ich wünschte, es wäre möglich, null Sterne zu vergeben. Vor zwei Jahren gehörte dieses Restaurant noch zu den besten der Stadt – heute ist es leider das Gegenteil.

Wir waren eine Gruppe von neun Personen und bestellten sehr bedacht, damit nichts fehlen würde, sogar mit dem ausdrücklichen Hinweis, dass wir von Anfang an einen zusätzlichen Teller benötigen würden. Das Essen kam zunächst wie erwartet, doch der Teller fehlte. Wir baten zwei verschiedene Mitarbeiter darum, doch es geschah nichts. Am Ende musste ich selbst aufstehen, um Teller sowie Besteck zu holen.

Später bestellten wir ein Bier. Nach 5–7 Minuten fragten wir erneut, da es offensichtlich vergessen worden war. Wir fragten drei verschiedene Mitarbeiter – ohne Erfolg. Währenddessen aßen wir weiter. Ich hatte ein Gericht mit Lammkeule und Spinat bestellt, das ausdrücklich als „ohne Knochen“ beschrieben war. Zu meinem Entsetzen fand ich darin scharfe, harte Knochenstücke. Ein Stück verschluckte ich ungewollt, andere legte ich in eine Serviette und brachte meinen Teller zum Tresen, um das Problem zu zeigen. Die Reaktion: Schweigen. Keine Entschuldigung, kein Handeln.

Nach 15 Minuten war unser Essen längst beendet, doch weder das Bier noch eine Stellungnahme zu den Knochen kam. Das Bier stand sichtbar schon seit Langem auf dem Tresen. Als ich schließlich ein drittes Mal aufstand, um klarzustellen, dass wir das bestellte Bier nicht mehr möchten und nur noch zahlen wollen, begann das Personal mit mir zu streiten – in einem Tonfall, der aggressiv und respektlos war. Kurz darauf kam eine Mitarbeiterin an unseren Tisch, machte lautstark eine Szene und warf uns vor, wir seien neun Personen und müssten eben warten. Wir blieben zu jedem Zeitpunkt höflich, baten lediglich ums Bezahlen.

Der Gipfel der Respektlosigkeit: Beim Kassieren wurde ich vom Mitarbeiter verspottet, ob er „einen Krankenwagen rufen solle“ wegen der verschluckten Knochen. Das war nicht nur unprofessionell, sondern schlicht menschenverachtend.

Wir haben bezahlt und sind gegangen. Sicher ist: Wir werden niemals wiederkommen und können dieses Lokal niemandem empfehlen. Man bezahlt hier für eine Leistung, die weder erbracht wird noch einen Mindeststandard an Gastfreundschaft erfüllt....
