As many of the Berghütten, you need to make a good trek even to get there as the restaurant is located on the top of a mountain. Contrary to many other Berghütten, you do have a cable car service that allows you to get close to the locale without a significant trek up a mountain in the first place. While the trek is absolutely worthwhile weather allowing, this accessibility is a game changer if you have less physically able folks in your party. Once there you can enjoy spectacular views of the mountains and valleys surrounding the restaurant, and enjoy good quality Bavarian food and drink to go with that picturesque scenery. We enjoyed classics such as Kaiserschmarrn (a rich Bavarian pancake served with apple sauce), a Brotzeit (a selection of local cold cuts and cheeses served with bread) and a beautiful venison ragout with dumplings, pears and cranberries. This is really the sort of experience you should seek out while in Bavaria. And while there are many other excellent options out there, you have the added benefit of the cable car....
Read moreA great place, run by even better (very child-friendly) people. We hiked up with 2 small kids, and due to various circumstances hadn’t had enough food or sleep so we arrived at the hut more tired than usual. The seating area was completely full, but when they saw us with the baby and toddler they got us a seat and we could order quickly. Although anything would have tasted amazing in our state at the time, the food was really very good! And even more Importantly: every time our toddler got restless one of the staff appeared and brought coloured pencils and a colouring book, or asked him to join them getting ice cream for us, etc. Even though he is usually shy, he really warmed up to them. This felt like grandma and grandpa were around… much more than a normal mountain hut experience! Thank you so much for today!
Also: facilities were perfect: changing table outside the bathrooms, big playground, climbing forest… A must-visit,...
Read moreI have never had such a bad experience with a beer gardens or other places where you can eat. We waited for a waitress at the table outside for around 20 minutes and no one came to us. There was a menu at the table. We looked at it and chose our dishes. Then I came to self-service point inside the restaurant to order food. I found out that you can't order soup or something special at this point and should wait for a waitress. Should we then wait for the waitress further? How long? We waited a bit outside at the table and INSIDE the restaurant at the other table for another 10 minutes. Nobody checked 2G with us and my family and I were just ignored. Of course we didn't get a menu inside the building either. But the waitresses served other tables. We have left this beer garden being hungry and very disappointed in the level of service and level of ignorance. Very impolite! This place probably needs no guests...
