I didn’t ask for much. That night, we weren’t looking for elegance, we weren’t looking for poetry. We were looking for pizza.

Just pizza.

Not transcendence, not Neapolitan glory. Just three simple pies to take home, eat quietly, and return to whatever show we were half-watching before bed. What we received instead was €20 worth of culinary shrinkage and existential disappointment.

The order:

-Funghi for my daughter. -Margherita for my wife. -Artichoke pizza for me, because I still believe in vegetables. All boxed up, taken home with the hopeful smile of a man thinking: "How bad could it be?"

The answer:

Bad enough to make me write this review.

The dough — ah, the dough. Flat. Brittle. Dry. Like Mazzah with ambition. Another three minutes in the oven and it would’ve made an excellent base for kneidlach. You could use it as a building material at a Passover Seder — though no one would mistake it for leavened joy.

The sauce was... present. The cheese? Let's be generous and call it obligatory. The artichokes on mine — pale, watery, confused. A vegetable in witness protection.

The pizzas were not offensive, I must say. But they were also not food, in the strict emotional sense. No warmth, no soul, no “mamma mia”*, not even a “na ja.”

Just three warm circles, purchased in good faith, and eaten in cold silence. My daughter said nothing. My wife took two bites, then quietly made toast.

One small mercy:

They accept credit cards. So yes — I paid like a modern person. That was the highlight.

Final Verdict:

No rage. No scandal. Just this: I will not return. Not out of fury, but because I don’t believe in repeating small sadnesses.

Pizzeria Da Giorgio: Thank you for reminding me that sometimes the safest dinner is an apple...
