Gasthaus Am Gorinsee — Restaurant in Wandlitz

This German restaurant is one of the few in the Northern part outside of Berlin that specialize on wild boar, deer, duck, goose, and fish dishes.

LOCATION: 4 stars The restaurant is located right next to lake Gorinsee. Nice views (see pictures) included. You can also walk around the lake and through the forest which will take you about 30-40 minutes. In the summer there are several small beaches, mostly crowded though.

FOOD: 3 stars We went for the Christmas menu and ordered Wildscheinfilet mit Klößen (wild boar with dumplings), Gänsekäule (leg of goose), and Zanderfilet (pike-perch filet with potatoes). All dishes came with traditional red and green cabbage on the side. The meat was super soft and tasty, so were the potatoes and the dill sauce for the fish. 18.90 for the main dish was a bit pricey though.

As a starter we got the Pilzsuppe (mushroom soup), which to my surprise was watery and had bacon in it, hence a strong taste of pork, which I disliked.

Dessert was okay - vanilla ice with hot cranberries, a nice and refreshing combination.

AMBIENTE: 2 stars As it was pointed out in the German reviews, if you're seated in the Wintergarten it doesn't really feel like a restaurant, more like you're sitting in a train station. It looks like most seats are not in the actual restaurant but in the attached Wintergarten, so chances are high you end up there. Sit inside if you can.

If you plan on driving up North out of Berlin for some meat dishes you might also want to try the restaurant Waldschänke am Rahmersee - similar concept but...

The sourrounding landscape of Berlin has many lakes much more than the Englisch cumberland, some of them are easy to access others need more time to arrive. The Gorinsee is one of the smaller and more close to the city, just with less 1h by bike. The rough and sometime well bituminized way for bikers and hikers pass a wonderful and very different landscape with changing deep forest and open land with fields and paddocks for cows and horses. So the way itself is worth to go slowly. If you arrive at the lake, than you will be a little bit chocked about the mass crowd of people. There is only one small beach side, so everybody need go to there. Next to the beach is the small restaurant, they offer you the bear necessities: French fries red and white and a good beer. So you can be happy while eating and watching all the beauties of Berlin. Inside you get much more food ... typically german...

Unfassbar das ganze. Waren heute mal wieder da, seit Herbst letzten Jahres und sind regelrecht schockiert. Es gab ein Ensemble aus Fertig bzw Tiefgekühlkost. Der Salat, gehobelte Rohkost mit Fertigdressig angehaucht. Das Schnitzel halb schwarz, die Pilzsoße mit bitter schmeckenden aufgetauten Pilzen. Der Fisch, natürlich Tiefkühlkost... Nicht richtig durch, so daß er im eigenen Tauwasser in der Panade schwamm,angereichert mit Hollandaise ausm Tetrapak. Ekelhaft... Haben natürlich nicht aufgegessen und als der Kellner fragte, ob alles Geschmeckt hat und wir es verneinten.... Ging die Post ab.... Er wurde extrem patzig, meinte es wäre wohl verständlich, das wir für die Preise nichts anderes bekommen würden. Und ob ich ihm sagen könnte, wo er denn frischen Fisch herbekommen soll?! Zu guter Letzt zog er mir gegenüber noch ne entnervte und verachtende Grimasse. Ein Haus was sich derartig mit frische Ware im Netz brüstet.... Sollte dementsprechend auch auffahren. Und dieser Kellner, der garantiert niemals derartige Schule erlernt hat, ist einfach nur Gift für einen eigentlich schönen Betrieb. Ich selbst komme aus der gehobenen Gastronomie und bin mit dem heutigen Tage echt schockiert, was sich gepflegte Gastronomie nennt. Unsere Familie verkehrt seit vielen, vielen Jahren in dem Haus. Entschuldigung... Verkehrte... Den dies war das letzte mal!!! Beileibe, wir gehören nicht zur Sorte: Kunde ist König, aber als Gast möchten wir auch nicht wie Schweinehirten behandelt werden. Etwaige patzige Antworten auf die Rezession sehen wir freudigst entgegen, da dies ja mittlerweile Standard zu sein scheint,dem man aber mit rechtlichen Schritten entgegen zu wirken weiß. PS.
