It was my first time there to check how tasty it is. And I often visit a lot of Indian restaurants in Germany. My favourite until now is Swagath in Wolfsburg (for starters), India House in Braunschweig (for gravies) and Baadshah in Hamburg (for price and food varieties). The restaurant staff was initially very friendly. I ordered Samosa chat, Papdi Chat, Paneer Pakoda and Chole Bhature.
I would rate them now.
Samosa chat -( was too much yogurt based, had no sev, had no bhoondi and nothing crispy except curd some flavor and samosa). Same applied to paapdi chat as well. When the waiter asked how it was I honestly told that it was too much yogurtized for the taste buds of Germans and he started telling me that is how it is North India. The cook actually being from Chennai, hardly would have not been so dumb to not know how north indian chat is. If it is yogurt based it should be mentioned yogurt based. This was totally 80% yogurt. Later the waiter disappeared and he dint even come to serve the next dish. The person who came later was so stern not only when he served the food but also during the billing. They are a new restaurant and should look for giving their customers good experience if not authentic indian food. So finally review for chat Taste : 3/5 Reception: 1/5 Price: 3/5
Chole Bhature: The chole was typically south indian based. And it was very tasty. So if they were following south indian flavor why did they not do it for chat? And to be honest in north india chat is far tastier than the south. And when it has yogurt it is known as Dahi (based) chat. Dahi means Yogurt.
The Bhature was lean but eatable. But the price was a whopping 15 euros for three to four table spoons of gravy.
Taste: 4/5 Price: 0.5/5 Reception: 0.5/5
Paneer Pakora was like any other german based indian restaurant. Mediocre and as expected.
Overall, The first half of the food experience was average (chat and starter) which was honestly told to the waiter who asked which made the reception they gave us bad and then this didn’t give the experience of enjoying the food later (chole bhature).
I am not a food expert. But at least I have visited more restaurants than these people knew. They were not only teaching me how to make chat but also was saying I was wrong and did not agree that it is not that way in India. And later they anyway had bad reception.
I would not visit here again. I would not recommend any of my friends either. I am anyway respected for my opinion. So you’ll at least lose 10-15 customers based on my review. All the best on your Yogurt based north indian chat and south indian gravies.
And be more stern to...
Read moreWe were a group of friends traveling in Germany and found this great Indian restaurant called Laddu Gopal. We were all hungry for something spicy and delicious, and this place was perfect.
When we walked in, we were greeted with big smiles and the smell of fresh naan bread. We ordered a few dishes to share, like the chicken karahi, daal makhni, paneer jalfrezi and Garlic Naan.
The food was amazing! The flavors were rich and real, and we got a lot of food. We were all full, but we couldn't stop talking about how good it was. The service was great too - our server was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.
One of my friends, Rohan, loves food, and he was really impressed. He even asked the chef for the recipe!
We went back to Laddu Gopal two more times during our trip, and it was just as good each time. If you're in Germany and want Indian food, you should definitely go to...
Read moreOne of the good restaurants I have tried so far in Germany. It's located at a quiet neighborhood and close to Wolfsburg hbf/Pheno (5 min drive by car). Loved the elaborate menu and a variety of chaat options. Very good quality of sizzlers and chaat. The main course was nice as well but I would not rate it as outstanding compared to the standard of good restaurants located in India. But the quality of the food was one of the best I had in Germany. However the chaat and the sizzlers are outstanding. Will visit next time again and try the dessert options. This restaurant has such a wonderful menu, that very few restaurants in Germany offer. I am definitely coming back to this place and try other food items. Moreover the restaurant staff is very hospitable and well behaved. Felt like visiting a friend. That was...
