Akwaaba! Relax and enjoy your stay! Just don’t expect to eat anything you don’t bring for yourself. Zoe is not a restaurant. It’s a snack bar and you can’t get what’s on the menu. You get what the chef pushes for the day: Our first lunch there we could ONLY get rice and chicken two days after Christmas because “the Christmas crowd was too large.” But they said they would go to the market and have a good variety for dinner. Dinner time came: We could ONLY get rice and chicken, but they said, “We’ll have something different for lunch tomorrow.” The next day’s lunch we could ONLY get rice and chicken. So, we cornered the chef who promised us that if we told him what we wanted for dinner that night he would send someone to the market, and we could have what we wanted at 7:00 pm. We wanted a couple of burgers and fruit salad from the menu. Simple, right? At 6:00 pm the property suffered an electricity blackout (which didn’t affect their neighbors.) But I could see through the kitchen window that the kitchen was lit by a backup power source. To be reasonable, I asked if the blackout would cancel or only delay our meal. I was told our meal would still be served, just a little delayed. At 8:15 pm a kitchen worker came and told us the chef would not make burgers or fruit salad, but he offered to make us Shawarma. No Thank You! Next day’s lunch offering? Shawarma. Didn’t even bother with dinner. Good thing we brought some crackers and tangerines. Breakfast was a predetermined omelet, bread, and beverage. I ordered fruit juice from the menu. It didn’t come because 8:30 am was “too early.” Another menu item didn’t come because “it takes too long to make.”

So, tell me, is that incompetence or just apathy?

The beautiful thatch-roofed bar at the secluded, private Coconut Pointe Villa & Beach Resort overlooks a spectacular white sand beach and the turquoise green waters of the South Atlantic.
