Ο θαλασσόλιθος — Restaurant in Almyros Municipality

Lovely place, with a number of tables under a fat shade, right on a pebbly little beach on the Nies coastline. The place qualifies as a "tsipouradiko", which by the locals means a taverna that also offers small dishes ("meze") together with "tsipouro" (heavy liquor from distilled grapes). This is a family run business. Mrs Athana, queen of her kitchen, offers a selection of main courses and "meze" which are above local quality standard, all from local produce. We loved her zuchhini balls and her wonderful homemade vegetable pickles. Their fish and calamari were fresh and masterfully fried. Today we had the incredible opportunity to visit a magical place. This restaurant captures the magic of Greece with its atmosphere, owners, and exquisite cuisine. We've visited many countries, but it's hard to find such a cheerful, open-minded person as Vaggelis, who served us. The chef (Mama) imbues the dishes with a truly royal touch. It's wonderful to find a place where people who would win Hell's Kitchen, Master Chef, etc. cook. What arrived at our tables was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Simple dishes, yet exquisite! And the view! The tables overlook the sea, where only the sound of the waves can be heard, a sense of peace and quiet. Such a place is magical!

Family run (as it seems) tavern with exquisitely beautiful position on the sea and plain, yet honest dishes.

They definitely can/must improve their QoS as well as certain of their dishes (....the pork kebab was SO dry that I could as well use it for stone throwing in the sea!....-:))

As for the QoS, although extremely polite, they brought our 4 dishes order after almost 40', with all being either grilled or ready or VERY FAST to prepare dishes....( Greek salad, fries, open...
