Ταβέρνα Αστέρας — Restaurant in Argostoli Municipality

After spending a lot of time in Argostoli, Lassi & surrounds at various establishments being impressed by location, but rarely by the food (or the pricing for that matter) we were bored. So we opted to go 10min past the Marina on the other side to Arestas Taverna - a journey that made the gastronomic element of our Kefalonia trip immediately worthwhile! At last - authentic Greek food made with super-fresh ingredients (mostly from their farm below and organic) with incredible hospitality from Elli (Front of House) & her husband Sakis (in the kitchen). Lamb chops - large portions, succulent, perfectly seasoned & grilled, moist Souvlakis, as well as wonderful appetisers. The Dessert we had of Semolina Halva - when I first saw it - I didn't think was going to be great but was fantastic. A complimentary round of Tendoura was also well appreciated - and felt the next day. Real Greek backround music added to the vibey atmosphere. All round - really great food! AND all of this at 60% of the food prices and 70% of drinks prices we saw anywhere else. AND did I mention the views covering Argostoli, Luxouri and all the way to the open sea. We found this tavern almost by accident but so glad we did! Incredible food, stunning views and excellent value for money especially compared to similar restaurants in Argostoli. We loved the selection of starters we ordered, especially the yiayia's meatballs, riganada and saganaki and the pork chop main was one of the best I've ever had. Service was super efficient and friendly and we instantly felt at home - this is what real Greek hospitality should look like! Yet another bonus was the plentiful parking right outside which was a welcome change from the desperate search for parking in Argostoli late at night.
