I'll start by saying I want to leave 2 stars, but I don't want to harm their reputation. So i left 4 out of courtesy. Food price ratio here used to be great, it is not any longer. For what I paid the food was very basic. Guys, come on, a bit of salad, tomato, zatziki etc on the souvlaki plate is standard and part of the meal. I got 2 sticks of medium quality pork, a handfull of chips and a wedge of lemon. For €10.20 it could at least have some zatziki on it. Wine good and cheap, but a bottle of bier for 4.90 is so expensive, when they also own a shop that sells cold bier for 1.70 a bottle. I know business costs are up, but still. Cod and chips was very small also, considering the price of almost 13 euros. The roasted eggplant, although far from a bargain, was absolutely delicious though, far better than my souvlaki. In comparison, many places directly on lourdas beach are far cheaper, with much better views and atmosphere. Guys, we've been coming to you for years, I just wanted you to know how the night left me feeling. I wish you all the best,...
Read moreMe and my family stayed at Karavados beach hotel hotel in July/August 2023, we went to happiness restaurant and went back another two times because it was that good! We didn’t hire a car for the holiday but the hotel will ring happiness and the owner Michalis/Mick will then pick you up and drop you back off after the meal. The owners wife cooks whilst their daughter Effie waitresses and her son is always around with the biggest smile (he comes for the taxi ride back too☺️). I saw a review on here saying to never come back, well that was because they decided to buy beers and snacks from the mini market and proceed to sit in the restaurant so no wonder why the owner wanted them to leave as it’s a business at the end of the day! The service and food was so so amazing, on the last night the owner gave us a little gift (something stronger than ouzo🫣) and even took us to their local church which was absolutely beautiful!!! If we ever return to Kefalonia then we will be back to...
Read moreWe visited Karavados in August, and at at happiness a few times during our stay.
The restaurant itself is in a beautiful setting with views of the sea and mountains, plenty of parking and a very traditional and laid back atmosphere. The food was fantastic, between us we tried the chicken fillet, carbonara, braised beef, chicken gyros as well as the fish pie and swordfish from the specials menu, all of which were excellent. We found the food to be excellent value for money.
The service from Effie and her family was excellent, we ate their for our wedding anniversary and they made a fantastic gesture of providing us with Prosecco and ice creams after we had finished our meal, at no extra charge.
Thank you Effie and family, we will definitely be back when we...
