Fish tavern Kyra Despoina — Restaurant in Chios Municipality

I honestly wasn’t expecting to love this place as much as I did — but wow, what a gem. The food was absolutely amazing, full of flavor and clearly made with fresh ingredients. Every bite felt like a homemade meal, in the best way possible. The place itself is super cozy and has a really nice vibe — nothing too fancy, just really warm and inviting.

But the real magic? The owner. Such a kind, down-to-earth person. You can tell he genuinely cares about people having a good time, not just about business. He came over to check on us personally, chatted with us like we were old friends, and made sure everything was perfect. That kind of hospitality is rare these days.

And the prices? Seriously fair. You get incredible food, generous portions, and you don’t walk out feeling like you’ve been overcharged. It’s honestly refreshing to find a place like this where quality and honesty go hand in hand.

Can’t recommend it enough. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and try it — you’ll leave full, happy, and probably already planning...

While we were touring around the island, we chose it because it was highly rated in google scores. It is located on the west of the island. You can watch the reverse light hit the shore as the sun sets. The food was delicious. The portions were big. We ordered a wide variety of seafood and tried to eat 4 adults and 3 kids. We couldn't finish. The service was fast. The prices are also very reasonable. This price for this quality is really good. The seafood was very fresh. The shrimp pasta was also very tasty. Smooth-hound fish was cooked just right. Jumbo shrimp and calamari were very good. The octopus was cooked like in Europe without extra sauce. Thank you for the friendly service. They have an English menu. We communicated easily as they also speak English. We would like to go and eat...

We were advised and recommended to eat at that place by one very respectful local, that was actually a reason to travel to Lithi, but unfortunately it was extreme disappointment for all of us. Maybe if we would come with that local, treatment and food would be higher level, but that shouldn’t be the case for any food place. Every single dish was very average and felt like it was made by very amateur cook. Nothing stand out to feel super fresh and amazingly cooked. Even grilled zucchini that is so hard to ruin were not tasty at all. I believe every single 1 star review and regret we haven’t checked reviews before wasting time and money(prices are high for such place and food!) super glad we were not in the mood...
