Katsika chios — Restaurant in Chios Municipality

We visited Katsika based on a friend’s recommendation, specifically to try their lamb dishes. The restaurant is beautifully located in the main square of the village of Armolia, offering a lovely setting. We made a reservation in advance and were warmly welcomed upon arrival.

The lady who served us was extremely polite and friendly, which made the experience even more pleasant. Our table was right next to the local church, which allowed us to quietly observe local life in the village—a very charming and authentic touch.

In terms of pricing, everything we ordered was quite reasonably priced. The local wine was decent, and overall, the meal was satisfying—though not exceptional. Unfortunately, our lamb chops were overcooked and in some places even slightly burnt, which was disappointing.

However, the salad we ordered was outstanding—truly the highlight of the meal. The ingredients were incredibly fresh and clean, and everything worked together in perfect harmony. On top of that, the addition of warm, grilled Mastelo cheese was absolutely delicious—soft, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.

We also tried the eggplant dish with a tomato sauce and cheese filling. While it was enjoyable, it didn’t particularly stand out or offer a unique flavor experience.

If you’re planning to order meat, I would definitely recommend specifying how you’d like it cooked, as that can make a big difference.

Ο κερασμένος μουσακάς ήταν αρκετά καλός. Το σέρβις όμως….κακό! Δυστυχώς, το σέρβις ήταν απογοητευτικό και αργό. Ενώ τους ενημερώσαμε επανειλημμένα ότι πρέπει να προλάβουμε καράβι, και ενώ μας είχαν διαβεβαιώσει ότι η σπαλομπριζόλα θα είναι έτοιμη σε περίπου 20 λεπτά, μετά από σχεδόν μία ώρα αναμονής και πολλές ερωτήσεις, η σερβιτόρα μας είπε ότι τελικά δεν θα μπορέσουν να την ετοιμάσουν. Ήρθε κάποιος που φάνηκε να είναι μάνατζερ ή ιδιοκτήτης, μας απολογήθηκε και πρότεινε να μας κεράσει έναν ήδη έτοιμο μουσακά. Δεχτήκαμε, αλλά ακόμα κι αυτός καθυστέρησε. Χρειάστηκε να πάω ο ίδιος σχεδόν μέσα στην κουζίνα για να τον ζητήσω και τελικά τον πήραμε πακέτο, κρύο, μαζί μας. Επιπλέον, ό,τι ποτό παραγγείλαμε ερχόταν χωρίς ποτήρια — κρασί χωρίς ποτήρια, αναψυκτικά χωρίς ποτήρια. Αυτά μπορεί να είναι μικρές λεπτομέρειες, αλλά όταν προστίθενται στην καθυστέρηση και στην αδυναμία να διαχειριστούν σωστά το λάθος τους, η συνολική εμπειρία γίνεται αρνητική. Λάθη μπορεί να συμβούν παντού, αλλά η ικανότητα να διορθώσεις γρήγορα και αποτελεσματικά το λάθος σου είναι βασικό στοιχείο καλού σέρβις. Δεν υπήρχε ξεκάθαρα διεκπεραιωτική ικανότητα για διόρθωση λάθους. Ο μανατζερ/ιδιοκτήτης θα επρεπε να το αναλάβει προσωπικά χωρίς να δίνει εντολές στο προσωπικό. Τουλάχιστον αυτό λέει η εμπειρία μου από αντίστοιχες περιπτώσεις όπου ένα ατομο αναλαμβάνει την επίλυση λάθους. Εδώ δυστυχώς έλειπε παντελώς.
