Meltemaki — Restaurant in Chios Municipality

Having read the reviews and seen the menu, we were excited to visit this place as a party of five. We were lucky to get a table down by the water as the restaurant was very busy for a Thursday evening. When the owner came to set up our table and take our order he did not appear to want to engage in conversation with us. When we asked him how his day had been and commented on how busy the restaurant was, he actually asked us to speed things up! The order was taken without a smile or any further interaction. Our meals arrived in staggered fashion and not together, so that some people had finished eating before others had even started. The salads arrived as starters, although ordered to go with other dishes. There was no check back on any of our food, as the items were delivered by staff who were running food, but not taking orders. No apology ever came for the half hour wait for a plate of fried shrimps (which were definitely not worth the wait) and there was no service whatsoever to see if we wanted anymore drinks or condiments. Two courses, one round of drinks, and no mention of dessert. What should have been the best meal of our holiday so far, will be remembered as our worst. If you go, and it is busy, try...

A must go restaurant in Chios! We were there as a family of four with two teenagers in early October. Had our dinner outside, next to the seaside with a mesmerising view! They set up a fresh table cloth for each meal.

We ordered grilled fish, Greek salad, aubergine, steamed mussels, calamari, and variety of deserts after the dinner including the orange cake and chocolate sufle. Every single dish came with a perfect cooking style, taste and serving. Not a single flaw was in there.

We loved it so much for the first evening so went again for our second evening and ordered the same dishes. My son was unwell on the second day so they offered a plain spagetti for him that easily eaten-and even that spagetti was well cooked and tasty!

The family that owns the place was also friendly, welcoming and timely in serving! I will always remember the freshness and taste of the food in there and hope we can make it...

Went here guided by the good reviews but left astonished at how this restaurant actually recieved them. The service was good and the location was nice but the food was by far the worst weve had in Chios and one of the most expensive.

We tried many plates (greek salad, dolmas, stuffed squid, sardines and anchoies, grilled cheese, tzatziki and the orange pie). The seafood lacked flavor, felt chewy and sincerely did not seem fresh, all other items were below average and you can find better quality in many other places in the island. It really felt there was no heart put into the food.

Avoid this place and save your money and go somewhere else in Chios (its not very hard to find a seaside restaurant in this island). We were fooled by the many positive reviews and hope this helps anyone reading avoid the same...
