Such a delight to end up at this taverna after winding your way up and up and up the curved road on Mount Olympos. This is where workers would keep their saws and tools back in the day (hence the name prionia - meaning saws) and at 1100m above sea level it's the last stop before hikers set out to climb the peak. The whole place is made of wood and stone, and there's a tap inside with that heavenly fresh spring water right from the source. The usual Greek fare is on offer here, but the go-to dish locals around the area visit for is the fasolatha, or bean soup. One day I'll reach the chapel of the Prophet Elijah on the peak, but for now I'll enjoy the hearty food and mythical atmosphere of that most legendary...

There a three spots you can stop and catch a glorious view from up the mountain. Two of the three have huts but only one of the stops (the first from the foot of the mountain) has enough parking space for about 4 cars and it has the most amazing view in my opinion. The other has enough room for just two cars if the drivers park properly and it has the best panoramic views of...
a great place that I to go since my childhood, either for hiking in Olympus or for a simple stroll. Located at 1,100 meters altitude, a beautiful half-hour drive from Litochoro (17 km) through nature and forests. the place got its name from the water-powered sawmills that existed there in the past and served the loggers of the area. There is an outdoor fountain with crystal clear drinking water, parking, toilets and a shelter - a restaurant with plenty of affordable food and coffee - soft drinks. A few meters above the shelter there is a beautiful small waterfall for photos. the only downside is the 100 meters of dirt road just before...
