We have been in Gavdos about ten full days, and this is the best place we have eaten. That is saying a lot because all the tavernas and restaurants have been quite good food for lunch and dinner. Gogo’s Place however didn’t miss a note in any of the five dishes we ordered. As mains we had the goat and a Greek chicken coq ou vin, artichokes, salad and whipped feta with chilis. Everything was superb. It is the kind of place that Anthony Bourdain would have visited and sat to talk to the cook for a good while then entered her kitchen. I saw posts about how rude or poor the service was. Perhaps it is different during high season, but the proprietor is the cook and the wait “staff” and she is probably in her late sixties or early seventies. I found her totally charming. Yes, she wouldn’t let us sit where we wanted (expecting larger parties) and yes, she sat with her friends to talk with her friends who visited (so I had to go to her and as for another beer). I don’t consider that rude or bad service, I consider it like eating in someone’s home! The view is incomparable, different than from the beaches. I don’t usually write reviews on google but I got the prompt, saw what others wrongly said about her, and felt the need to...
Read moreI was there yesterday with my friend. We have had the most appalling service ever. The youngest waitress (some here say she is the owner) is just rude, arrogant, awfully unpleasant. She shows how much she must hate not only het job but the clients. I wanted to leave but my friend didn't want to give her so much importance, so we didn't. Staying there with such a childish, immature and ridiculous behavior knowing that I would have to give them my money was an ordeal... Greece is such a beautiful, welcoming and friendly country, I don't understand how such a place can still exist.... The food? Not bad but I have had as good if not better in Gavdos. And the service was slow. The location? That must be it. But the restaurants on the beach on the island offer a similar pleasure to the eyes. In a nutshell:...
Read moreA small little taverna, absolute traditional and even more fresh food. Like almost every corner on the island pretty individual, and growing. Direct around the corner are some little rooms to rent, very traditional build direct in the rock, so you can breathe as well, if there are burning hot temperatures outside. Really nice to sit after a hot day spending crossing around the island, to have a beer, some music, a fresh salad and even to just enjoy the evening is coming in. Will not miss it, if I come there...
