We visited this place 3 times during our stay in Ikaria (last week of September). Each time the staff was really very nice and friendly. Location and atmosphere were truly authentic. Each time they offered different dish and each time it was delicious. Menu was not available during our visits - waiter only explained us what meel is available today and we selected. We even did not know the price of the dish, but within nearly family atmosphere, we felt like among friends, so we simply believed them. And our feelings did not betray us. Food was delicious. Simple as that. Greek salad, fava, tzatziky as starters - nothing to complain about - all fresh local ingredients. Variety of sea food - again fresh and tasty (squid, sardines, shrimps, and octopus). Home made wine and tzipuro - great. Staff - friendly, one can talk with them like with friends - very nice experience. Of cource - speed is not super fast, you do not know the price of each piece of dish, you do not have menu card... But you are in Ikaria - blue zone island. Where people live on their own way. And that is amazing. Slow down a bit, throw away all your crazy habits that makes you crazy at your home. And a bonus - beautiful panorama sea view at sunset. We paid each time approx. 20 - 25€ per person. One can pay by card. Final result - fully recommend! If I visit Ikaria again, we will...

Naiades, nestled between two other excellent tavernas, stood out as the best choice for those seeking authentic Greek cuisine with an interesting concept. We were virtually the only guests, and rather than a printed menu, the dishes were verbally presented by the family's son. He described all the ingredients and recipes, focusing on our preference for fish and starters, in a charming and detailed manner.
You can choose from a selection of dishes cooked by the grandma and served by the mother, all based on recipes authored by the great-grandma. For starters, we enjoyed wild mountain herbs (similar to spinach) with lemon, and melted cheese with peppers. While this sounds simple, rustic, and straightforward, the flavor was incredibly good!
Our main course was a delicious scorpion fish prepared with tomatoes and onions. And I almost forgot about the incredible sunset happening at the same time – always a highlight in Nas, and even more so on this calm, windless day.
We even got a free dessert: sweet lemons and yogurt with apricot jam! It was an explosion of flavors in my mouth.
I can absolutely recommend this place; if you're close by, you should definitely...
Read moreWe have eaten around the taverns of Nas and Armenistis a lot and overall I think Naiades is the best food... and the competition is stiff. The service is very efficient and friendly. The house red wine is truly excellent. Perhaps a little more expensive than some of the other tavernas but the portions are large to compensate. They also do some interesting dishes you won't find elsewhere. Much of the food is grown on the island and by the family. The aubergine dishes are particularly good, and you are sometimes lucky enough to served some homemade deserts such...
