O Kalioras — Restaurant in Ithaca Municipality

Positives: the view is the restaurant's saving grace, but there are other places with such good views.

Negatives: really poor customer service - our table was swarming with wasps so it was really difficult to eat, nevermind have an enjoyable time. When we asked the waitress for a candle or something to deter them, she did not care one bit and didn't help. We then moved a used dish which the wasps were really attracted to to another table with no one on it, this waitress literally told us off in a really rude manner. She kept insisting that it's a reserved table ... Okay, but we are the paying customers there now, does our enjoyment not matter too?! The food is okay but over priced and they didn't have many things we asked for on the menu. Also, the onion pie isn't vegetarian and they don't state that on the menu so be careful. Finally, and the worst part for us, they have birds in tiny cages as decorations. This is 2025 - it's so sad and selfish to do that, let them be free.

Popped in here after finished the Vathy - Perachori hiking route. Initially just wanted a cold beer but realized we had stumbled upon a hidden gem. After almost two weeks between Kefalonia and Ithaca this was probably our most authentic Greek eating experience. Very nice with great atmosphere. The food was delicious, except the onion pie which was microwaved and therefore soggy. The meat was great. BUT these were the smallest portions we have ever eaten in a traditional Greek taverna, while the prices were quite high, which was very disappointing.
