There are still places left on this earth where magic can be found. Kea Retreat / Lygeria is one of them. I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon there, during a late lunch, facing the blues of the ocean and the clear sky. The journey itself was an adventure—down a winding dirt road that descended the mountain, leading to a secret bay that makes one pause. The retreat, a hidden gem, is perfectly embedded in its surroundings, as if so as not to disturb the natural life around it.

We were greeted with generous smiles and an unforced atmosphere that felt like home—much like the beautifully curated interior. The farm-to-table experience was extraordinary: homemade vermouths (lavender, spring blossom, or thyme-infused), homegrown vegetables, fresh fish, and dips I ate by the spoonful. A delicate feast with finger-licking flavors that were always just right. Greek natural wines were selected with care to accompany it all.

If my heart hadn’t already been won over, the dessert would have made me falter: rice pudding with thyme ice cream and Metaxa caramel. The kind of dessert that sends you back to childhood with its perfect simplicity, yet feels like something you’ve never had before at the same time.

We drank coffee served in one of the many ceramic cups—each unique and beautiful—and then took a dive into the ocean. We were warmly invited to use the retreat’s outdoor shower afterward, as well as the homemade shower gel made from Greek mountain tea, which I also bought—along with a bottle of vermouth and a jar of orange marmalade—from the shelf of their homegrown, and handmade delicacies. Happy to take a little bit of Lygeria home with me.

Thank you for this wonderful experience, and for reminding me that there is still magic...

We journeyed through the delightful Greek island of Kea arriving at lygaria, we were astounded by the beauty of the Lygaria and the amazing private bay overlooking the Aegean sea .

As we went in we were greeted by the wonderful warmth and friendliness of the owners, we felt immediately that we were about to enjoy one of the most outstanding culinary experiences of our lifetime.

The organic produce is homegrown on the farm or bought from local sources. As we sat down we felt part of a dream, Yoni and Uri conducting picturesque dinner, one of the best ever pictures I will remember for ever.

Sea is almost in your plate creating together a perfect and spectacular dinning experience. You might even have the fortune of being taken to their own olive grove or taken to pick chamomile flower as an ingredients for later on.

It is worth traveling from anywhere in the world to visit and enjoy this extraordinary and sensual...

Wonderful restaurant but failed to meet expectations for those with special, but not uncommon, dietary needs. Truly excellent restaurant overlooking a beautiful beach on Kea Island, Greece. Each dish was beautifully prepared and presented; the wait staff were excellent; the setting sublime. A major disappointment, however, was the failure to fully take on board the dietary constraints of a coeliac family member and one with lactose intolerance. As a result one diner was not able to have any dessert despite adequate warning. A top restaurant with capable chefs should have no problem providing alternative dishes; even beautifully presented seasonal fruit would have been acceptable as one of the two desserts in the degustation menu. A disappointing feature of an otherwise exceptional meal.

Although the cost of dinner (130€ / person) looks extremely high for the island / Kea’s standards, both the quality of food (based on fresh materials and amazing chef’s skills) and the level of service / hospitality are at high levels. Yoni (the owner of the property) and his team are vey friendly and makes you feel that you are with a group of friends. Overall, a very good experience in terms of quality of food and environment! If the cost will be slightly lower and more affordable that place will be overbooked every single day (I am not sure if that is something that Joni wish to happen due to the exclusive / retreat environment of this place).

Amazing hidden gem in Kea island. If you are looking for a pristine location, unique experience and excellent food and service this is the place. Definitely the highlight of our holiday in Kea. We were also lucky enough to see a giant turtle swimming in the sea in front of the restaurant. Very raccomanded ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
