We were recommended to visit the specific restaurant from a local friend of mine after our first night disappointment at Chora and it totally paid it off. In a nutshell: Business is run by a lovely Greek family, producers of wine, delicious local cheese and stock breeders. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed in a very professional and authentic way by Mrs Kyriaki, who set up the table and cutlery. Mrs Kyriaki informed us on the specialties of the day, soutzoukakia and katsikaki (goat) in lemon sauce. We ordered both dishes followed up by traditional Greek salad, kapari salad and sfouggata (signature, local cheese rissole). Everything we ordered was beyond fresh, mouthwatering and cooked with love and knowledge of an authentic Greek cooker. The salad was made of fresh ingredients topped with their delicious cheese, the goat was unimaginably tasteful….and how couldn’t it be when their herds browse in the nearby slopes, eating fresh grass and drinking sea water? Soutsoukakia was also soooo tasteful as well as their signature rissoles (Sfouggata) - we were later informed that Mrs Kyriaki won the first prize in Sfougga cooking contest on the island. Prior to our departure, I also visited their toilets who were spotlessly cleaned as well as their kitchen and it added an extra value to the whole culinary experience. Congratulations to Mrs Kyriaki and her lovely family, we are already planning to visit the restaurant again and again…oooh…and the prices were so logical, no comparison with the majority price category...
Read moreThere are two options of the restaurant ashore. Both are excellent. We decided to have a dinner here because of home production of lamb meat (must try). The menu is simple, but fully sufficient and easy to oriented. Lamb was the main choice and I'd recommend cheese balls as a starter. Meat is served with french fries (though we didn't asked). Maybe because of tourists... Food was fresh prepared (kitchen is partially open so you can watch the cook), well done and seasoned. We didn't take a Greek salad (we've been sort of over-greek-saladed from days before) but salad that was served to other tables looked great). Definitely must come for a dinner. I missed the grilled vegetable (only boiled available) and grilled feta cheese as another starter option besides the cheese balls. White wine good and tasty. Nice, sympathetic hostess ready to help with smile, chatting with guests. Result: 5 stars. One of the best in west...
