Isplèo GRILL BAR — Restaurant in Lemnos Municipality

What a find! I can’t say enough about how much I like this new restaurant in Moudros on the island of Limnos. We have travelled quite a bit and a restaurant like this I would put up against many of the best around the world.

The food is delectable and well thought out; from the freshness of all the ingredients to the level of detail in everything they prepare be it the traditional Greek salad, the amazing hamburgers and French fries and other delectable dishes. All is prepared to order and nothing is left to chance.

The owner Despoina started this restaurant last year with her husband Triantafilo. By the way they also run Micro Fanaraki beach as well which I recommend you visit.

Despoina is a force with a vision and she certainly makes sure the client experience exceeds that vision. She is extremely social and customer focused and tirelessly trains the whole team on how to deal with each aspect of the dining experience. She has prepared special cocktails, each with a story, and also chosen amazing local wines to pair which you definitely must try.

I have high standards and expectations and all were exceeded.

We happened to be their first customers when they opened this year in July and have kept coming back including later at night for just drinks and appetizers. It has been that good.

We wish Despoina and the whole team the very best of luck and we will definitely be back to see you when we return to Limnos.

Sorry I did not include pictures as we kept diving right in and forgetting to take them. The presentation is very good as you will see from those others...

We were denied service at 21:30 although most of the tables were empty and NOT reserved.

Only one big table had a Reserved sign, and there were a couple of casual, counter-style tables that could easily fit a couple.

First a polite waiter said “let me check” and walked to the empty tables just to show she’s “checking”. She found one but then went inside. Then another polite teenager informed us, quite reluctantly, almost embarrassed, that because we haven’t booked, we should go for a walk and come back in an hour! Would the “reservations” go away in an hour ?

They did not write our names on a waiting list, neither asked us to wait at the bar to drink something while waiting!

Keep in mind, the restaurant was almost empty at the time, only two tables were eating.

I don’t know why they didn’t want our money, maybe because we were dressed in casual summer clothes and sandals (just like the rest of the Greeks in the village)?

This didn’t look like a posh restaurant, just because they burn a stamp on their buns and wear berets doesn’t make it one. Never in my travels in Europe have I been treated like that.

Of course we didn’t wait an hour, we were too hungry and ended up on another sub-standard restaurant...

What a pleasant surprise this was for us. Last year we didn't visit the place as we thought it's rather a street food but this year we decided to try it out and it turned out to be a hidden gem. Really, really, really well cooked meat and super kind service. There are nice appetizers and starters as well...and to not forget the burgers. Something different, something of high quality. Very well done, guys! Keep up the good work! P.S. The signature dessert cream Ispleo is a MUST TRY! You will be very...
