Astrolimano — Restaurant in Lokroi Municipality

We were on the highway from Meteora to Athens, noticed the coastal water and decided to take a break. We casually drove by and noticed the cozy atmosphere of Astolimano with a beautiful view of the sea. We wanted to eat a late lunch and were greeted by the owners daughter Elena. We order the Greek Salad and Shrimp house specialty. As we ate, I commented to my wife that this was the best Greek Salad we have experienced in the 7 days we have been in Greece (and ordered Greek Salad every day). The shrimp specialty was prepared perfectly with nice large shrimp, feta, tomato, onion and other special ingredients. We spoke with Elena about the freshness of the food and fine ingredients. She shared that they make their own olive oil. She kindly took a few pictures of us by the sea and introduced us to her father and shared the long history of this wonderful restaurant. The desserts, hand made by her mother were a real treat and so lite and refreshing. This is a place we highly recommend and is a “must visit” on our net trip to Greece. Our visit to Astrolimano was a letdown, and the overall experience was far from enjoyable. The “fresh” fish served was clearly not fresh, lacking both taste and quality.

Inside, the dining area was filled with the heavy smell of cooking oil, making it unpleasant to sit through a meal. Even more concerning, smoking is allowed indoors, which is not only inconsiderate to non-smokers and families but also a clear violation of Greek law.

To top it all off, no receipt was provided after payment, raising serious questions about the restaurant’s professionalism and compliance with regulations.

Actualización 16/09/2023: Una vez aclarado el malentendido, el restaurante nos ha transferido a nuestra cuenta el importe del plato que no pudimos consumir. Nos hubiera gustado que las cosas hubiesen transcurrido de otra manera, pero tengo que agradecer al restaurante su reacción, demostrando su integridad y honradez. Si en otra ocasión volvemos a Grecia, volveremos allí a degustar el calamar, ya que nos quedamos con las ganas. Hicimos una parada en este sitio, ya que teníamos un largo trayecto en coche. El restaurante tenía dos mesas más ocupadas. Pedimos mejillones, pulpo, calamar a la plancha y patatas fritas. Nos sirvieron los mejillones y el pulpo, quedando pendiente lo demás. Nos extrañó que pasase tanto tiempo esperando el calamar y las patatas, sobretodo viendo como servían lo mismo a otra mesa que había llegado después de nosotros. Pasado un tiempo ya excesivo esperando el resto de la comida, y sobretodo viendo como el dueño permanecía sentado, decidí pedir la cuenta de lo que habíamos consumido. Aquí vino la desagrable sorpresa: Sin ninguna disculpa, ni ninguna intención de servirnos la comida que faltaba, nos trajo un manuscrito que no podíamos entender, con el precio de LA COMANDA COMPLETA, incluídos los platos que quedaron pendientes de servir. El propietario se aprovechó de nuestra condición de turistas y de nuestra buena fe. Solo en cuando tuvo el dinero en la mano mostró simpatía hacia nosotros. Al estar bloqueados por la tensión del momento, cometimos el error de dejar 5€ de propina. Cosa que lamentamos durante el resto del trayecto.
