A day trip to Loutraki for drinks and food and we arrived at the restaurant around 15:30. We spotted it from the road and the view and setup looked promising. Appearances are deceiving though. We were warned by the parking clerk that the service is slow as the kitchen was overwhelmed. We agreed as we were not starving and didnt mind a little waiting time but we were not prepared for such bad service. We found a table outside and the key strength of the restaurant became apparent. The view over the Bay of Corinth is breathtaking and the clear day made all the colors of the sea, land and sky mix together ideally creating a view that needs to be seen. At some point though we had enough of the view and wanted food. This is where all the problems started before climaxing. We had to ask the buffled and overwhelmed waiter 3 times before he brought some water and took our order. It took them another 1 hr to actually start bringing us the food (2 people only) we ordered. We chose the "forest" salad which said to contain lettuce, raisins, parmesan cheese, croutons, apple pieces and orange slices all bound by a honey/balsamic sauce. What arrived to our table was a fruit salad, with tons of raisins and apple pieces, lettuce on the edge of stale, some scarcely dispersed croutons that were bought from the nearest mini market and a sauce that was essentially honey slightly thinned with water. The advertised parmesan cheese was present in the form of minor grated speciments that we discovered with difficulty under lettuce leaves. The "salad" was so sweet that we could not eat it despite trying to salvage it with some salt. We also ordered cheese flutes which were just ok but dipped in frying oil. In addition, the french fries came half fried as they were rushed out of the pan. 30 minutes (!!!) later the main courses arrived and the disappointment continued as the lamp chops were hard to chew and badly grilled and the only plate worth its name and price was the traditional grilled sausage which to our surprise was actually good. We ate what we could and asked for the bill so as to leave as soon as possible. Note that we were the more fortunate of the clients as other larger companies left the restaurant aggrevated after being kept waiting for 1 hour before their order was taken!!!! During our 2 hour adventure at this unspeakable restaurant 3 large companies left before being served and other companies were already complaining for the lengthy waiting times. Some even left without paying as the cashier lost their order and could not issue a proper receipt!!!!! The waiters were willing but totally untrained how to serve customers and it was apparent that the managers of the restaurant have no idea how to provide a proper service and quality food to compliment the excellent view. Such lack of professionalism and organisation I had years to witness!!! To top it all off, the "bathrooms" were one of the filthiest I have ever seen, half broken, tiles missing, no door (!!!!!!!) to close when one wanted privacy and the shared faucet was just a hose sticking out of a pipe over a black (from dirt) sink. It's a shame really as the location is superb and the restaurant has all the necessary foundations to be top quality and a must visit destination. Based on our awful experience we shall never return and we will let our friends know so they can avoid wasting their time and money. The 1 star rating refers to the view only as the restaurant itself is so awful that it is pointless to...
Read moreThe taverna is in a great location and has beautiful views. The food and the service however have room for improvement.
The tzatziki was extremely garlicky and the salad had a bbq flavour instead of tasting fresh which was strange. Some other dishes we tried were better.
The service was mixed. Some staff were very polite and friendly, some not so much.
We had also ordered a dish which was a starter but was brought to us very late, after we had finished everything else. When we enquired about it to one of the staff, they told us to relax and that it was on its way, when clearly they had forgotten about it, which didn't appear very professional.
All in all, the experience was mixed, but still worth it for the views. With an improvement in the quality of the food and of the service this taverna has...
Read moreWe visited around 2pm on a Wednesday in May so it was perfectly peaceful with no crowds. The views speak for themselves. There's nothing quite like sitting back here in the dappled shade, enjoying the tranquillity. The hostess let us have our pick of any table and cleaned the one that we chose as the trees drop seeds occasionally. The menu has plenty of options. We chose the feta with filo, honey and sesame seeds which was as incredible as it sounds as well as the forest salad. The salad was huge with plenty of every promised ingredient. The sausage is a long and thick one cooked perfectly, and was served quite simply, with some fries. The pork steak was...
