Saronikos Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Aegina

We went to this restaurant on our second day with my wife at 10th of September 2024 around 8.30pm to have a try on some sea dishes, preferably kalamarakia which is what i like.

Upon closer inspection of the menu once we received it, the prices were quite high. 12€ for kalamarakia? I paid 9€ at a different restaurant in the center of Aigina last year. Same thing with drinks, around 3.50€ for refreshments drinks (Coke, Fanta etc) which is quite absurd for a can of a refreshment drink. Anyways, we both ordered meatballs at 9.50€ which came with potatoes, small lemon and a bit of salad (picture below). Thankfully, the dish came with 2 meatballs instead of 1, because if it were for 1, the money would've gone to waste.

Unfortunately though, we waited half an hour for in total 4 meatballs and some potatoes which is way too much time for what we ordered. The restaurant was half full and most people had already goten their food before we came so not sure what happened during that time, but half an hour is a lot of time. If i had ordered like 5 plates of food, then half an hour is acceptable, but since we ordered 4 meatballs and potatoes, half an hour is not acceptable.

Food wise, the meatballs were great in taste, same thing with the potatoes. Though, the salad was unseasoned and did not have any oil on it whatsoever, so it basically was plain salad with nothing on it, but that wasn't a problem for me. When we finished, the server brought us Σιμιγδαλενιο Χαλβα (Semolina Halva) and a non alcoholic drink called Σφηνακι (Shot) as desert which is a nice touch. I think they do this to everyone, but great touch nonetheless.

Atmosphere was great, at the side of the port overlooking the sea and the whole front view of Souvala.

Servers were friendly and i do not have anything disappointing to say about them.

I give this restaurant 3 stars (precisely it would've been 3.5 but that is not possible), mostly for the prices and for the waiting time. Not sure if i will be going back there. If you wanna go for the view, then go ahead, but price wise when it comes to food, it's a bit of a hard decision to...

It wasn’t a busy night however we had to constantly chase up our service. We waited 20minutes for our drinks; where we had to follow up and ask for them again, half an hour for tzaziki ehoch is ridiculous when they literally had to scoop some yoghurt in a bowl. Unfortunately we did arrive hungry which didn’t help, so we asked how long we should expect our mains to take to arrive after ordering, our waiter said 20 minutes. It most definitely was not. When the mains finally came, there was no flavour. I had to salt and pepper twice and my partner barely ate his. We gave half of the calamari to the cats. Sad as it’s such a lovely location and I imagine the staff don’t want to disappoint they just don’t have the experience and have a distinct lack...

Food and views were amazing (2 stars for that) but the customer service...? 🥴 We ordered appertizers and main dishes and right after the waiters went to other table with their friends to talk and laugh at our orders. Thankfully food and drinks came really fast though.

Then when was time of the desserts, there was different waiter and it took a long time even though we were the only customers at that time. In both of our dessert there was body hair. Then after that we waited for service for 50 MINUTES but the waiter just sat, was on his phone and only visited couple of times the table next to us but not ours. So in the end we went and paid the bill inside.

Such a pity, great food and great place for restaurant but customer service needs some...
