Visited as it was recommended by friends. The food was ok, nothing special, Cretan cuisine but I think you are able to find something closer to the Cretan flavours elsewhere. The place is on a very busy avenue, which means that it’s impossible to find parking. The most disappointing thing though was the service. The waiter who took our order was fine but the waiter who delivered our mains was the rudest person I have ever met in the industry. He didn’t know where the plates were going and he got really frustrated with the customers for no apparent reason! It’s like we should have guessed what he had on his tray, which we couldn’t see as he was standing and we were seated. He then came back and he almost threw the plates on the table. I was with a friend that I haven’t seen for ages and I had spent 20 minutes looking for parking. Otherwise, I would have left at that point. I mentioned it to another waitress who apologised on his behalf but he had already ruined the atmosphere. I’m not going back, not only because of the behaviour, but I think you can find nicer places that serve Cretan food in Athens. I’ll find them and...
Read moreFriendly place with delicious food that leaves you wanting to come again. The staff varies depending on the time of the day, so you might encounter more or less friend and open waiters. You get offered a shot of traditional raki upon sitting down and the menu is encased in a wooden cover. The atmosphere is very traditional and old fashioned, with Greek music playing. If you look down at the floor you will see a glass cover with a wine cellar underneath, which looks very neat! The food was delicious, the pork and lamb were tender and full of taste. It shows that the food is truly cooked with "meraki". At the end of your meal, you will be brought some "oinomelo", which is warm wine with honey and cinnamon, which is a perfect way to end a delicious traditional cretan meal. I recommend trying the cretan pilaf if you never have before, or any cut of lamb (they are all extremely tender and...
Read moreExcellent value for your money. In the summer they serve you at the open space opposite their restaurant, under the trees. It's nicer before sunset. When it gets dark the orange light is not ideal to set off the appetizing colors of the food. Avoid going when there's too much traffic on Mesogeion avenue as it can get noisy. But the food will compensate you. Their salads are fresh and crispy, one is enough for 4 people. In general their portions are generous. Be sure to taste the snails. If you don't have a sweet tooth, at the end, at least have a sip of their homemade Cretan raki with honey, infused with cinnamon and...
