We stopped here on a total whim as we were driving though the village at 2:45pm with empty stomachs. It is a beautiful rural village and the restaurant seating is right in front of a pretty church. We were very pleased to get a seat and the waiter was very kind and friendly, both towards us and my two young boys. Now, the food....every single dish we had was absolutely perfect! It was the kind of food where you can taste both the skill and the love. We had stuffed vegetables (which almost made me cry they were so good), meatballs which were the best I have ever had, the green pies were beautiful, a great greek salad and some homemade chips, a lovely cold local rose and a raki and juices for the boys. The food and drink is incredible value and the service was great. We were served by a brother and sister, this is a proper family run restaurant. We knew we would be going back and we are booked for lunch today....can't wait! Do not hesitate, take the drive up the windy road and get away from the hubbub of the towns...

We were driving back to Hersonissos from Spinalonga, it was extremely hot, some areas hitting 38° and up. Hungry and thirsty we fled the pushy restaurant people from Plaka in search of something good, something authentic!

We came across this place whilst getting our severely underpowered rental car up the hill, it looked amazing and the atmosphere was more than cute! The place seemed empty, because we were the only fools to go outside in this blistering heat during lunch.

We were happily greeted and he suggested some dishes to order. (Without being pushy, how refreshing!) Basically it’s the best authentic food we’ve had all week. We had a good conversation with the guy and you could just feel his passion. Simply the best dining experience we’ve had. A lovely escape from the...

Let’s start with the good: the food was nice and the location is amazing. The real issue of this place, though, was the service: it is what seemed family owned, which is usually very nice, but the servers were basically teenagers who - fair enough - didn’t really seem to want to be there. We sat down and ordered drinks, then proceeded to wait 1h15m until we HAD to ask for the menus. In the meantime, other tables arrived, ordered, ate and left before we could even see the menus. The food arrived somewhat swiftly, but it took us more than two hours to eat a single starter and a main. The inside of the kitchen looked honestly quite unhygienic. The servers were using their tshirts to clean the cutlery, honestly not the best idea. Will definitely avoid...

We visited early August 2024. Were served by 2 teenagers probably the children of the owner who certainly did not want to be there. They did not have bread, they did not have one of the main dishes but they did not tell us in the beginning but only after we ordered it. They seemed to go somewhere else to take beers. Overall a disaster. The worst part was when I went upstairs for the restrooms and the upper floor which was empty was very very dirty. The ground floor on my way down was also not clean. I really wonder where do all these 5 stars come from.

We stopped at this lovely place for a break and lunch on a drive from Chania to Sitia. The village is very charming and this small restaurant was picture-perfect in the small village square. The food was uncomplicated but delicious. We loved the the meat balls in tomato sauce with real potato fries, and also enjoyed the xygalo, a local soft white cheese. We had a nice chat with the family running the restaurant, very friendly and welcoming. Thank you to all!
