Miliaras is the best restaurant in the area and a must visit place. I visit the place for a decade and they constantly offer a high quality product and service and the price/quality ratio is unbeatable. This is a master example for any restaurant owner of how to properly run the business. Small menu to produce fresh, high quality ingredients, reasonable prices, excellent service and customer oriented staff. That's why they are always packed. The souvlaki is what made this place famous beyond the island but do not hesitate to try other menu items. You'll be positively surprised. I suggest Bifteki, Paidakia, Dolmadakia. And almost everyone will love the fried cheese balls - although it might be the less healthy item in the whole menu. At the end of the meal, everyone's getting a treat on the house with some cold raki and...

We befriended a local waitress in Elounda, and inquired as to where do the locals go out when they fancy a good meal out. Immediately she dropped a pin on the map and sent us here, to Taverna Miliaras, a real family owned restaurant.

And boy did she not disappoint! We were greeted by Niko (if I'm not mistaken) and his son Philipos, who showed us in full color what it really means to be Greek with unparalleled hospitality, fantastic rich, wholesome food and non stop laughs. Dinner quickly became not just a foodie's dream, but also a slice of Greek charm. We must have shared 10 shots of Raki (the local spirit) with Niko and Philipos!

A must try for all those who want Real Greek food and Real...

Miliaras was recommended to us by a shopkeeper in Aghios Nikolaos, so we tried it ... and ate there again because it turned out to be one of the two best tavernas at which we ate on our two week trip to Crete. The food was flat out outstanding. Better yet, Nikos the owner (and host and server and entertainer) was a delight and a hoot, making the atmosphere so much fun and our meals so memorable and enjoyable. It may be a pain to get there depending on where you are staying, but it is well worth it if you want a truly great meal and Cretan village...

Wish there were more stars i could rate them! I think if you have one day in Crete, this is the place to visit. Been going there for many years and the quality of this family run tavern has always been 10/10! Top dishes: french fries -one of the best hand cut crispy potatoes you’ve ever tasted. Ntolmadakia! Cheeseballs!! Lamb chops for sure! And cretan cheese pies! Iconic mascot of the restaurant is Nikos, who is more than an entertainer and fun to have around! Good people with good food. What else could you ask really! Highly recommended!

Holy smokes! Holy smokes! Run, dont walk. Be there 5pm sharp or no seat for you. The souvlaki is…..wow, on an island obsessed with souvlaki it stands out. So soft, so smoky. The oven roasted goat should be ordered with the spaghetti, and the latter soaked in the former. Everything was best in class..EXCEPT for the dolmades in my opinion although everyone else in my party loved them, so i could be wrong. Just don’t hesitate, and dont be late.
