This place looked so promising, right next to a lovely beach, the prospect of a good Greek taverna with a playground couldn’t seem more perfect. Unfortunately that wasn’t quite how it materialised. The service was slow and unfriendly ( I don’t think I saw a single smile). There was a clear preference to serve regulars first regardless of who had been there first. Similarly, when ordering, we were simply told what wasn’t available as opposed to the neighbouring table who seemed to get a whole separate, ‘insiders’ menu, listing a variety of seafood and meat dishes including some locally raised ducks. Read moreWe spent 9 days in andros and visited at least one taverna per day. This is, by dar the best one. The starters are fresh, delicate and in the right portion. All ingredients are locally grown and tasty.
The wrapped lamb was excellent and so were the Gavris fried fish. The moussaka runs out fast, so ask vagelis to save at least two for you when you arrive.
Dont forget to order ocra, imma and the large beans.
Full dinner with ouzo and wine (the hiuse rose is a steal!), with magnificent home made desserts - for 8 people cost us 140 euro. Best value for money as well.
Fellos beach (in the pic) is 150 m from...

Mousaka one of the worst we've ever had in Greece and we've been coming here regularly for 15 years. The setting is traditional with uncomfortable Greek chairs, but in a nice garden. Service is quick, but don't expect a smile. After the meal, they do not take your plates from the table, as in most Greek taverns. I don't need to go back, there are better taverns and...
