From the perspective of a Greek, traveling in Greece :

We were a company of 4 and after a day at the beach, we decided to stop here for a bite, early afternoon. We chose this place over "periptero" which is near, because it had better Google score at the time. To everyone's surprise, this should likely not be the case.

The food : We ordered fried potatoes, saganaki, Greek salad, sausage, tirokauteri, and following the server's suggestion tsiros - small, marinated, smoked fish.

Now I may not be a local of Andros, but I was born, raised and spent my life in Greece. I know what store bought food tastes and looks like like I know the back of my hand. The fries, the sausage, tirokauteri and tsiros were 100% average quality, pre-made (as in frozen and/or in container) food. Which is not bad necessarily, there was no plate we tasted and didn't like it. Which brings me to the next part.

The prices : for the above items plus 1/2 l of wine, 2 beers and some low quality (but fresh) bread, the total cost came up to 48 euros. I would say that is above average. The entire island is rather expensive for what they offer in terms of food, so I am not surprised here. But if you are coming from another country to have your vacations in Greece, keep in mind that the mainland is a whole lot cheaper in food and upgraded quality as well as recipes.

note : I read a review for "periptero" that they sell Greek salad at 10 euros per plate. Liotrivi sells it for 9 euros and it is most certainly that smallest serving of salad I had in Andros. Not to say it is the smallest in the entire island, but it was certainly the smallest between 4 other restaurants which coincidentally have it for 7 euros and served with local cheese, instead of that thin slice of feta "liotrivi" gives.

The service : I did say earlier the food tastes good regardless of quality and price. There is something that ruins the taste of the food and that is the attitude of the server, who if I understood correctly is also the co-owner along with her husband. She was not welcoming at all. Not warm either. What we received instead was attitude, irony, an attempt at a sly business trick and a few bad comments about our character. Lady, I hope you are reading this. Greet your clients when they enter your business. Wear a smile. Don't smirk and show them that the last thing you wished for, was another group of tourists. I don't care how you feel about tourists - I am one, I brought money to spend and I expect some form of friendly treatment, along with your services and products.

The cherry on top : after about an hour and having eaten all the other plates there was still one plate she had not brought, the saganaki. It was obvious to us that either she or the cook forgot about it - there is no way in hell that a saganaki needs any more than 5 minutes of preparation. We called for her to cancel the order if by some weird turn of fate, the cook had not already started the frier. That's where the sly businesswoman trickiness kicked in. She took advantage of our polite gesture - saying "if the cook hasn't started the preparation" - and from across the store, she shouts "if he has, I will bring it though and you will eat it". And what do you know! 2 minutes later it starts smelling like fried saganaki from the kitchen and 5 minutes later she serves it!

Lady we are not used to picking up fights with those who bring us food, and we are rather accepting of mistakes because we are adults who know what a bad day is. We would have eaten the saganaki but you should not pin your mistake on the clients and you most certainly should treat them a lot better. That or don't work a spot where you have to deal with tourists. 48 euros for a fresh but small salad and store bought everything else is too expensive to be served with that attitude. To you it may be "just another day". To me it is my god damn vacation and I don't like having a stranger ruining my good mood even for an hour. I saw you eating the saganaki and I hope it tasted just like...

I had the pleasure stopping at Liotrivi Snack Bar, and I must say it was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and a cozy atmosphere that instantly put me at ease. But what truly stole the show were the tomatoes! I couldn't believe how amazing they tasted. I couldn't get enough! What made the experience even more special was the friendly owner, Leonidas. He made sure I felt welcome and at home. His passion for good food and hospitality was evident. Leonidas even took the time to share information about the island and show me around. And here's the cherry on top: You can pick the vegetables for your salad directly from his garden, when they're still on the ground! It doesn't get fresher than that. It felt like a farm-to-table experience right in the heart of the tavern. The menu offered a delightful range of mezes. I can't recommend his place enough. If you're looking for a place with both great food, incredible tomatoes, a wonderful atmosphere, and the chance to pick your own veggies, be sure to pay a visit. Those tomatoes alone are worth the trip, and Leonidas will make you feel like a cherished guest in his garden of...

Amazing local place with a spectacular view overlooking Giaros island and the Ancient port of Paleopolis!!!

Leonidas, the owner (from Andros since many generations) is incredibly nice with very high level vibes / energy. We felt we made a new friend, and felt we couldgave spent hours chilling with him.

The products he serves all come from his garden (tomatoes, radishes, basil, etc.) as well as his olive oil.

Really worth a stop while on the road between Foro caves/ Hora and Batsi / Gavrio, or simply if you want to relax in a local authentic greek / androsian...
