Taverna Kremastos – A Hidden Gem of Cretan Hospitality

We had a beautiful family dinner for twelve at Taverna Kremastos, and it was one of those evenings that stays with you. The patio, set against a lush mountain landscape, was the perfect setting—peaceful, expansive, and full of charm. It felt like we had stumbled upon a secret corner of Crete where time slows down, the air smells of herbs, and the food is made with care.

Both kids and adults were genuinely happy here. There was space for the children to get up and play between courses while the rest of us relaxed and enjoyed the view. It was the kind of place where families can just be—no pressure, no fuss, just warmth.

The food? Delicious. Every dish was deeply satisfying: the beef in tomato sauce and the chicken with pasta and fresh tomatoes were simple but rich with flavor. We loved the zucchini balls, the fresh and vibrant Kremastos salad, and the cheese-and-honey kaltsounia, which the kids devoured (along with the adults). Every bite felt homemade in the best possible way.

What truly sets Kremastos apart, though, is the atmosphere. The hosts have a way of making you feel like part of the family—genuine, welcoming, generous. And the value? Even by Cretan standards, it was astonishing.
