An inexpensive meal right by the jetty & small port, a great spot to have a meal, a cold drink and to simply people watch.
The potatoes were cooked just right, with their jackets on, but crisp and full of flavour with a light covering of salt. The rose wine was served in a chilled glass as was the small Mythos lager, keeping the contents cooler for a little longer.
The service was very good, but this is something that you expect from Greek hospitality, and Almyra is no different. The food is served with a smile and the question "how was your meal?" always seems to be asked with genuine curiosity rather than being a legal requirement as it is back home in England.
To sit, to relax, to enjoy the location and the reasonably priced food was so great. 5 years ago we arrived on the island in early season, before this restaurant had opened, so we missed out then, but not this time. The setting and ambiance are very nice - try to be there around sunset! The service — both at the table and at the fish counter — felt somewhat condescending and only borderline courteous.
As for the food, it was, in general, unremarkable — nothing bad, but nothing to truly impress either — with the sole standout being the tarama, which was delicious. The much-advertised “highlight” of the menu, the tuna burger, was an interesting concept, but the execution fell flat. The flavor was so intense that we felt it would have worked better as mini-burgers rather than as a large main course. The tuna steak, on the other hand, was quite...

The chef is a passionate young man with so much joy explaining and showing what is local and how diverse and rich their sea is on providing a “small” 250kg of tune.
I had the BEST fish carpaccio in the island! I have visited 7 other restaurants and tried 3 other fish carpaccios and this was by far the BEST ONE!! A magnificent tuna carpaccio followed by a local fish that was divinely cooked. Locals pickles were kindly offered by the house.
Incredible place by the road with the beach and tiny harbour as view.
It’s filled with locals who enjoy the best quality fish served in a honest quality way! You can NOT miss visiting this place and enjoy their fish!
