Μεζεδοπωλείο της Αργυρώς — Restaurant in Municipality of Chalkida

Visited on our second night and enjoyed it massively. The house salad with bacon and chicken was delicious and a change. Bekri meze was delicious and we also enjoyed sausages in tomato sauce. We sat outside in a covered area but the inside also looked attractive. Amazing value for money, just 18.10 euros with a litre of wine, water and bread. I would certainly have given 5 stars. However we returned a couple of nights later. The staff were different and it was difficult to get attention. We again ordered a litre of wine. Half a litre was bought to the table, we immediately pointed out the error and it was corrected but we were given a bill for a second half litre which was 1 euro litre more than ordering by the litre. I pointed it out but they just said it's OK. The mushroom dish was tiny and a bit bitter. Greek salad OK and we also had the sausage dish and pork belly. On going inside to pay I again mentioned the wine, a conversation was had and although I was paying by card the waiter who took the order gave me a euro from his own pocket. Came on the recommendation of a friend who had been recently. Food was excellent and once we'd ordered it came relatively quickly with pleasant service. Prices were outstanding, food was great...Why not 5 stars, then...? It was more than an hour before we received our food, which was bad anyway, but even harder with children, despite their commendable patience. 25mins to be given a menu (in the end I had to go and ask on the rare occasion I could spot someone for long enough), another 25-30 before our orders were taken, then 20mins before food came (nothing was brought at all, even bread or water, in that time). It appeared there simply weren't enough waiting staff as the kitchen seemed to be coping fine. Service was 2 stars, food and prices 6 or 7, hence 4 above and I think we were unlucky with timing. Terrible experience. Ate there for second time shortly after the quarantine measures were lifted. Ordered a chicken burger meat which was barely cooked and the result was food poisoning.

On top of that all dishes were covered with excess amount of creme probably to hide the low quality food they serve. Only the '' Ntakos'' was tasty.

Plus, both glasses were dirty and full of lipgloss, so we asked to replace them, something that the service team did not like.

Overall, very cheap prices and big portions but extremely low food quality which can be risky for your health.
