Every restaurant in Crete will always be compared to here now. To me, this is more than just a restaurant, it's a giant home kitchen. These kinds of places are the best hidden gems a place has to offer. Let me explain why I think this place should be on everybody's list.
The food is undeniably phenomenal. The kitchen is led by a team of talented and strong women, Emmanuella, Irena, and Maria, who have poured their love into these family recipes. There's it's no denying it, this is good eats. Here's what we got:
Spicy fried mushrooms- These were wild mushrooms dipped in a very light batter that had the perfect crisp and seasoning to them. Great flavor and amazing texture for all mushroom lovers.
Greek Salad- the freshest local ingredients made with quality olive oil, feta and herbs. It's basic but the fantastic quality really makes it taste wholesome.
Mixed Grill for two- As a proud meat eater, this satisfied the soul. It's a big plate of grilled meat and fries/chips. Here's the different meats: Giant pork chop, pork belly, house sausage, chicken souvlaki, pork souvlaki, beef burger, and lamb rib. They make everything in house and use this simplest spice mix that brings out the best flavor of the meat. Everything was at least great, except for the beef burger. I'm American so I'm particular about my beef patties but the lamb rib, pork chop, pork belly, and chicken souvlaki all had absolutely incredible flavor balance and just the right amount of char from the grill. Just look at the photos.
For the pork chop they tenderize it, season it, drizzle that wonderful olive oil, and throw it on the grill until it comes out perfect. Everything about it is a dream come true.
The service was professional and courteous. Kostas and Gianni's were very keen to make sure we had everything we needed. They ran their tails off to deliver the same incredible service to everybody else at the restaurant too.
As for the atmosphere, I couldn't ask for anything better. The restaurant is tucked up in the hills outside the city away from the main tourist areas. The large open air patio celebrates the background of the mountains in all weather. Greek families from around the area gather here to enjoy a big meal together. It's the exact type of place you want to visit to have a unique Greek experience. Do not pass this place up.
Thank you so very much Kostas, Emmanuella, Irena, Maria, and Gianni's. Your warmth and hospitality is now my gold standard for all future...

We (family of four) visited for breakfast and we're not disappointed! There are nine breakfast options ranging from a full plate to a bowl of yogurt with honey. We had the English breakfast and it was fantastic! The cook prepared the ggs to order for our kids. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and delicious! After eating, they served us slices of watermelon.
The staff is incredible! Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name, but she was warm, friendly, and accommodating. She spoke Greek and English with us, encouraging us to practice a bit of our skills with her.
We highly recommend stopping here for breakfast! It's not far out of the way if you're driving imfrom Chania...
Read moreVisited September 2024 - The taverna style and homely Greek restaurant I was searching for whilst in Chania. Absolutely loved this restaurant, from the delicious rustic and freshly cooked dishes to the peaceful and relaxing location. The chicken gyros plate was spot on with the flavouring and grilling and the fish was really fresh and cooked to perfection. Each mouthful of their food is just happiness and comfort. The restaurant is family run and the staff are so kind and friendly, they really are the best of Greek hospitality. Prices are great and very reasonable. It's a quiet area hence the peacefulness, no obvious parking if you're visiting the restaurant but there are some side roads you can park in without being on the main road. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who...
