Truthfully one of the best places to eat in the whole Mani. To begin with the location. The restaurant is located into a beautiful traditional village next to the church offering an amazing relaxing atmosphere. Under 20 minutes from both Areopoli and Gythio offers a great quality option for both locals and travellers. Food wise, I believe the restaurant has one of the best quality igridients I have ever tasted. Everything is fresh hand picked from locals and nothing is frozen. Taste wise , there is a bit for every taste. You can have fish, meat or veggie dinners and all are equally tasty. They welcome you with some amazing treats which again something quite original. We visited this beautiful grill house in the heart of Karyoupolis, right next to the church, during a family baptism and had a truly wonderful time. The setting in the middle of the traditional Mani village square is just perfect — authentic, peaceful, and full of character.

The food was excellent: fresh, tasty, and prepared with care. Grilled meats, local dishes, and side plates all came out delicious and plentiful. The service was equally impressive — warm, polite, and attentive throughout the whole evening, making us feel completely at home.

It’s the kind of place where you enjoy not only the flavors but also the atmosphere — sharing food, laughs, and special moments under the Maniot sky. A place that perfectly combines tradition with genuine hospitality.

We had a delicious feast this evening, Ms Tasoula is a wonderful host and exceptional chef! We live near Areopoli but found this gem through an article and decided to bring a friend that was visiting. Just fantastic and we will tell our friends and family and we too will be back! The taverna sits in the gorgeous square opposite the church, tonight as it rained we were the only people there, however, the square itself with its greenery and history and the music in the background made for wonderful atmosphere alone.
