A disastrous restaurant visit
As a sailor, my husband and I wanted to spoil ourselves on the evening in question. The pictures and information on Google looked promising. The restaurant was authentically and stylishly furnished and there was a wonderful view. The lighting and relaxed music rounded off the first impression. We had made a reservation for 7pm and were the only two guests in the restaurant. The menu was very clear, which is not necessarily a bad thing. We wanted to start the evening with a nice cocktail from the menu. However, the waiter told us that he could only offer wine, beer and water. You would have to get the rest of the drinks yourself at the bar (far down near the beach at the cocktail bar). So why is the selection of cocktails listed on the menu? Perhaps I should mention again that we were the only guests, with three staff in the kitchen and two in service. My husband ordered the oven-cooked lamb with potatoes and I ordered the chicken breast fillet with crispy chips instead of the fried potatoes. Afterwards, my husband walked down to the bar himself to order our cocktails. Firstly, the glasses were filled to the brim with ice cubes. My husband then asked for at least two ice cubes to be removed. We ordered a Pink Lady and a Cucumber Twist Mocktail for a total of €17.50. The Pink Lady consisted of 2/3 syrup and the rum described had apparently been forgotten. After one sip you had a good chance of going into diabetic shock. The Cucumber Twist was similarly messed up, with far too much syrup. We therefore diluted the drinks with water twice during the course of the evening.
We waited more than 40 minutes for the food and were therefore hopeful of getting a freshly prepared dinner. But then, at the end of the wait, we heard the microwave ringing repeatedly and unmistakably. Our fears were confirmed when the food was served. The lamb was unmistakably from the microwave. The meat looked typically dried out on the outside, which was immediately confirmed when we tried it. The chicken obviously had to die 2 very slow, agonising deaths. Because it was so deadly fried that it just kept getting more and more in the mouth and could only be swallowed by drinking more. I also ordered ketchup and mayonnaise. I received the ketchup after asking again, but there was no trace of the mayonnaise until the end. In the meantime, a lady from the kitchen was enjoying herself at the counter. There was no sign of our waiter. Nor were we asked if we were satisfied with our food or if we had any drink requests. When the half-full plates were cleared (the cats were at least happy about the meat) we were asked if everything was ok. We just wanted to pay and then prepare something ourselves on board. I noticed a discrepancy in the number of dishes listed on the bill, so I asked for a translation. It turned out that the waiter had charged us twice for bread (which we hadn't ordered and hadn't received). The waiter was very indifferent to this and I would like to think that this doesn't just happen to us. That was really the icing on the cake. The price-performance ratio is more than outrageous in my eyes. We have been travelling in Greece for more than months now and regularly eat in restaurants. However, this visit was by far the worst. Even in a simple snack bar the food was of better quality, not to mention the flavour. I simply have no words for the service ...
Read moreWe wanted to enjoy the sunset while eating dinner. We ordered some bread, beer, appetizers and a main course. The waitress brought us dirty glasses for the water. Then we received our appetizers which were tiny but expensive. A long time after, one slice of bread was brought to us (for the proud price of 1,50€ per slice). After we almost finished the appetizers, our beers were served. The main course consisted of some admittedly good meat and fries but lacked the usual side dishes such as tzatziki or onions. Lastly, the...
