SUMMARY - TURN AWAY, GO BACK, DON'T VISIT THIS RESTAURANT.
If there was ever a more perfect example of the causation of the economic dire straits that Greece is in due to the citizen's complete apathy of the beauty and culinary wonderland of their nation and the 'You Owe Us, We Don't Owe You' of some of their citizens in regards to tourists, this is it.
Where do I start in illuminating to the world, how this could quite possibly be the worst restaurant on the Island of Samos?
For the royal sum of 153 Euros, we received the following -
Canned Dolmades. Which they lied to us about, we asked specifically if they were home made, they said they were, they were most definitely not, they came out of a can, and put on a tray to make it look like they were 'home made'.
Exceptionally limp and stale bread, accompanied by 1 plate of flavourless green beans and a plate of butter beans that had a texture that would have even made a nanny-goat gag, but were moderately saved by the tomato sauce they came in. The tomato sauce butter beans were canned, they did not seem fresh. We also ordered 'fava', it was also barely passable. If grainy texture is what you consider fava, then, please, come to this restaurant.
Seeing as a Greek salad has so many ingredients, by it's inherent nature it should be impossible for it to be bland. This restaurant my friends, achieved that feat. The produce on Samos is fantastic, this restaurant managed to pick the most bland tomatoes on the island, the most watery cucumber, and the most insipid fetta.
The meat platter we received is another story in itself, it was as if the chef woke up, left his house, stood outside the restaurant and then thought, 'okay, how can I take this beautiful, idyllic view and make it the opposite and serve it on a platter? That was the meat platter. Over cooked, pre cut chips, meat cooked to within an inch of its life, to the point where I don't think it was meat anymore, sad. It was truly sad. There was nothing endearing, there was nothing good, it was pure disappointment. I think a Syrian refugee would have even looked disappointed if they received it, and I don't blame them.
The fish platter was the ONLY thing that could have saved this establishment, but even then, they made a mess of that too. The 3 grilled fish, admittedly were perfect. Fresh, tasty, well grilled. The sardines and calamari weren't bad either, but the prawns were sad and there was some other fried 'THING' on the platter that we couldn't work out what it was for the life of us. It was slimy, oily, mushy, tasted like something I can't even describe. It ended up feeding other fish.
At no point were we told the prices of anything, admittedly, we should have asked, but every meal we've had on the island, we never paid more than 60-70 euros AT MOST to feed 6 people very well. 153 was just daylight robbery.
I'm sure this restaurant survives on foreign tourists who don't know any better, but as a Greek, this was absolutely appalling. Stay away. Actually, come here, look at the sea, look at the perfect, beautiful surrounds and leave, never give a cent to this restaurant because you'll only be disappointed.
Disgusting. A venue worthy of a visit from Gordon Ramsay. Actually, you know what? Gordon Ramsay is too good for these 'restaurateurs'. Closure, and handing the keys to someone capable and with an ounce of credibility, honesty and integrity would be a...
Read moreA place absolutely to avoid, cheaters on-site!! During our round trip we stopped at the beautiful village of Posidonio and decided to take a little refreshment at the Posidonio Café, located directly next to the similar called restaurant, run by the same owner. The waiter hardly spoke English an explained to us that they had no menu (yet) at this time due to the starting of the season (July 6th, 2020) We ordered 2 simple soft drinks of which the waiter initially explained that they wouldn't dispose of. A walk to the counter revealed the contrary so we ordered by pointing the finger at the exposed bottled lemonades. The drinks were served little later, with no decoration unlike we used to have it in the bars of Pytagorio and Kokkari. We didn't complain about that, it didn't matter to us at that time. The fact hovewer that they charged 9 EUR for 2 soft drinks made us believe sitting at the Croisette in Cannes (F) or in Mykonos. To our surprise it showed on the bill that one soft drink was taxed by 9% (3 Cents, Elderflower lemonade) while for the other one their charged 17%. Asked for an explanation the waitress behind the counted explained that one of the lemonades contained alcohol and thus had to be taxed by 17%,(3 Cents, Ginger beer) they always would proceed that way and nobody complained about that. The fact is that the lemonade is called ginger beer, 200 ml, of course containing no alcohol at all which the lady acknowledged later as i was insisting in revealing the truth. End of the story: A disrespectful, blunt behavior from the employee of this café, trying to take foreign guest for idiots. Clients with some self-respect deserve better that this place. They will never see us...
Read moreThis place is heaven on earth🏝️. Despite the fact that we lived on the other side of the island, we came here especially for this. Great food, everything is very fresh and beautifully served. Fish straight from the sea, insanely seasoned and perfectly grilled 🐟. You can drink here both a delicious drink and a real Greek coffee. This is a place with an atmospheric bay with a picturesque view, away from the crowds of tourists. Here you can feel the real charm of the Greek island, and time stops. Finally, wonderful and friendly owners. Smiling, surrounding their guests with care and warmth. I have to highlight the hostess, because she is a real treasure, an angel with a heart on her sleeve🫠. We fell in love with these people and their wonderful cuisine, we will definitely come back here ♥️🥰☀️ Thank you!...
