We were traveling from Cyprus and stayed in Epidaurus for a couple of days — and one of the highlights of our visit was dinner at Michel. The atmosphere is cozy and elegant, and the menu beautifully combines Greek flavors with a French touch.
The owners, Chef Michel and his wife Nienke, were very kind and attentive. They explained each dish in detail and offered a personalized menu based on our tastes and the generous portions.
We started with a complimentary salmon tartare — fresh and delicate. Then came the beef tartare — absolutely delicious, served with a scoop of passion fruit sorbet. The mix of sweet chill and tender meat was amazing. I felt like the passion fruit flavor ran through the whole dish — complex, layered, and truly memorable.
The house seafood soup was a real highlight: silky texture, rich flavor, whole shrimp, mussels, and chunks of real lobster. A real treat for seafood lovers.
The star of the evening was the stunning three-tier seafood platter: On the top — grilled shrimp and crispy fries. In the middle — a perfect mix: lavraki (sea bass), a piece of lobster, tender octopus, and beautifully grilled salmon — all served on a bed of pasta in a flavorful and well-balanced sauce. On the bottom — mussels in a light, aromatic broth.
The white wine paired with the seafood matched perfectly.

Read moreIn the heart of a quaint Greek town near the Theatre of Epidauros we found a most remarkable fine dining restaurant. Chef Michel’s eponymous establishment has a large patio overlooking the quiet main street where we enjoyed a delicious five course tasting menu to rival some of the best restaurants we have tried in London. Michel flawlessly infuses Greek elements into delightfully presented, inventive and flavourful dishes that tell an engaging tale of this Dutch family setting up a new and adventurous chapter of their lives in this corner of Greece - and if the food doesn’t speak for itself, Michel is happy to tell you his story. The most memorable courses for us were the oysters with foie gras and the beef tartare with ceviche and passion fruit - combinations that are at once intriguing and delicious. Michel’s signature bouillabaisse dish has its own page in the menu - did you know it has a Greek origin? - and includes a rich lobster base that was beautifully balanced. To close we had another noteworthy combination of homemade vanilla ice cream, homegrown olive oil and local caviar - yes, caviar as a dessert. Altogether this was an incredible experience that we will reminisce over for a very long time. If you love fine dining but feel it’s not right to come all the way to Greece and not eat Greek cuisine then this is the delectable solution. And don’t forget to pair it with some of the fine Greek wines on the...

Hailing from the Netherlands, Michel took a bold leap of faith—investing in a fine dining experience in a small Greek town known more for its history than haute cuisine. And he absolutely delivered.
From the moment you step in, you feel this is no ordinary restaurant. The setting is elegant yet warm, the atmosphere refined but welcoming. The menu is a celebration of creativity and quality, combining Mediterranean ingredients with international flair. Every dish is a surprise—unique in flavor, presentation, and depth.
