So this review is simultaneously one of the best and the worst I have ever written. Well, let's start from the good parts. The Saving Grace was the staff that truly went above and beyond, they were friendly, polite and super cool people. The MANTRI is lucky to have them. The view from the restaurant was magic absolutely breathtaking and the restaurant itself was so clean, so comfortable, so beautiful it was like it should be in Mykonos.
Unfortunately now comes the terrible part. The food was terrible it was the worst food I have had in my life. The only thing that I liked and I finished I literally cleaned all the plates was the French fries they make some of the best french fries I've ever had and the Tzatziki was awesome!!!! So they must have dishes is the lamb chops the lamb chops were as if they were from a couple of years ago as if they were sitting out for God knows how long as if there were cooked multiple times they were burned charred and they were paper thin with five pieces of sorry looking lamb chops on a gigantic plate. This place was not like this this place used to have the best lamb chops you will have in your life and now they have the worst lamb chops you will have in your life. Another Saving Grace is that the waiter came and asked us how the food was and I told him the truth the guy was shocked he then offered to replace our plates and bring us new ones of the same but at that point we did not want to have the same experience of the same thing so we just decided to decline and thank him kindly. As if all of the above was not bad enough the amount of salt used on everything was astronomical. Are salad too much salt our chicken too much salt are beef patties again too much salt and we left half of the food without even eating it. I'll finish off with the desert that had a ridiculous amount of sugar we had to Snicker ice cream thing which again half of it was left uneaten because it was...
Read moreGreat restaurant up in the mountain in Glyfada . Keep going up the road from Ano Glyfada and follow the signs for Mantri and be patient as you ascend up the mountain . It is worth the drive !!
The view is spectacular so arrive a little earlier to enjoy the change into night
Food is a great elevated and “modern” taverna classic approach and we absolutely loved it . It’s nice to see new innovation techniques and dishes in a reverbs environment.
We tried the beet salad which was roasted beets mix in with a mild yogurt sauce and slight garlic . Delicious and unique
Sweet potatoes puree with a nice hint or cinnamon and not too sweet as one would think . This reminded me of a thanksgiving side dish in a Greek taverna ! Yum !
My favorite dish of the evening was the thinly sliced pears with grilled mastelo cheese . Wow just wow ! This was something surely unique and easily could be served at high end restaurants. Delicious!
Finally we got the mixed grill for 4 people , even though we were 3 people . They are not kidding when they say it’s for 4 people. There was so much meat on this platter which included : loukaniko sausage, meatballs, chicken and pork . All grilled to perfection . We had to take few pieces back home with us as it was so much food !
Service is spot on and very precise. Very attentive and courteous staff with a lot of knowledge even on topics such as gluten free options and ingredients.
We will be back 100% to this very special restaurant taverna in Glyfada . Do not miss the opportunity...

To get here, you take an unassuming route off the beaten track, passing small, cobbled-together homes away from the hussle and bustle of the city below. You feel like you're in the beautiful middle of nowhere - at one point you pass a mound full of adorable goats - when on the hillside you spot an oasis: Mantri.
Mantri is the Greek word for where sheep and goats are kept - and this is what this place once was. Now, it's a breezy, serene tavern restaurant with spectacular views and fantastic food at a seriously reasonable price. My friend and I paid less than 50 euros for several dishes, and even had to take some back home with us because the portions are very generous.
If you arrive around 7pm, the restaurant is fairly quiet, but it gradually fills up, even on a Thursday evening, and my 9pm you suddenly realise that several other groups have arrived in the spacious yet cosy taverna.
If you like Athens, but want to escape to the countryside for an evening, this is just a 30...
